Apcy Syrup belongs to a group of medicines called Appetite enhancers used to stimulate the appetite and increase body metabolism. Apcy Syrup is indicated for loss of appetite, weight loss, and anorexia nervosa (an eating disorder with low body weight). Apcy Syrup is also prescribed for underweight children with inadequate dietary intake, loss of appetite, anaemia, liver or digestive disorder. Additionally, Apcy Syrup is used as an adjunct to anti-tubercular (anti-TB) and antiretroviral treatment (anti-HIV) for weight gain. Apcy Syrup helps in the stimulation of appetite, ensures weight gain, provides effective hepatoprotective action, and enhances protein synthesis. It is also indicated in hepatobiliary disorder (liver disease) associated with anorexia (lack/loss of appetite).

Dry mouth could be a side-effect of Apcy Syrup . Limiting caffeine intake, avoiding smoking and mouthwashes containing alcohol, drinking water regularly, and chewing sugar-free gum/candy might help stimulate saliva and thereby prevents drying of the mouth.

Diarrhoea might be a side-effect of Apcy Syrup . Drink enough fluids and eat non-spicy food if you experience diarrhoea. Consult your doctor if you experience severe diarrhoea or if you find blood in stools.
Antidepressants, along with Apcy Syrup , especially monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), may prolong and increase the effects of Apcy Syrup . Consult your doctor before taking Apcy Syrup with other medicines to avoid unpleasant side-effects.
