Duochek 200 mg/500 mg Tablet belongs to the group of medicines called antibiotics used to treat urinary tract infections, bacterial infections by inflammation of the peritoneum, eye and ear infections, skin and soft tissue infections, sexually transmitted infections, respiratory infections, vaginal infections, protozoan infections, intra-abdominal infections, and infections during surgical procedures. It is also indicated in the treatment of diarrhoea of mixed infections in adults. Duochek 200 mg/500 mg Tablet is a combination of two antibiotic drugs, namely: Ofloxacin and Ornidazole. Ofloxacin inhibits DNA gyrase which is required for the replication, transcription, and repair of the DNA. Ornidazole inhibits protein synthesis and leads to cell death, thereby kills the bacteria. Together, Duochek 200 mg/500 mg Tablet helps in treating bacterial infections. Duochek 200 mg/500 mg Tablet is a broad-spectrum antibiotic effective against a wide range of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.
Duochek 200 mg/500 mg Tablet contains Ofloxacin and Ornidazole. Ofloxacin inhibits DNA gyrase which is required for the production of DNA replication, transcription, and repair. Ornidazole inhibits protein synthesis and leads to cell death, thereby kills the bacteria. Together, Duochek 200 mg/500 mg Tablet helps in treating bacterial infections.
Duochek 200 mg/500 mg Tablet may cause photosensitivity (sensitivity to sunlight) and can make you sunburn easily. Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight or tanning beds. Always wear protective clothing and sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher before going out.
It is recommended to complete the course of Duochek 200 mg/500 mg Tablet even if you feel better as it is an antibiotic, and leaving it in between may lead to even severe infection. To treat your condition effectually, continue taking Duochek 200 mg/500 mg Tablet for as long as your doctor has prescribed it.
Co-administration of magnesium and aluminium-containing antacids, sucralfate, and iron-containing preparations with Duochek 200 mg/500 mg Tablet may reduce the absorption. Therefore, you are advised to take Duochek 200 mg/500 mg Tablet two hours before such preparations.
Do not take Duochek 200 mg/500 mg Tablet on your own as self-medication may lead to antibiotic-resistance in which antibiotics fail to act against specific bacterial infections.
Consult your doctor before taking Duochek 200 mg/500 mg Tablet if you have diabetes, as Duochek 200 mg/500 mg Tablet may cause hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar levels). Regularly monitor blood sugar levels while taking Duochek 200 mg/500 mg Tablet to avoid unpleasant events.
