Rimcone-O Suspension is a combination of three drugs: Magaldrate (antacid), Simethicone (anti-flatulent), and Oxetacaine (Local anaesthetic). Magaldrate works by neutralising excess stomach acid. Simethicone is a mixture of silica gel and dimethicone. It is also known as activated dimethicone. Simethicone works by decreasing the surface tension of gas bubbles, thereby facilitating gas expulsion through flatus or belching (burping). Does Rimcone-O Suspension cause diarrhoea?

Diarrhoea might be a side-effect of Rimcone-O Suspension. Drink lots of fluids and eat non-spicy food if you experience diarrhoea. If you find blood in stools (tarry stools) or experience severe diarrhoea consult your doctor. Do not take anti-diarrheal medicine on your own.

Can I lie down after having meals?

Avoid lying down immediately after meals to prevent acidity. Raise the head of the bed 10-20cm by putting a pillow so that the head and chest are above the waist. This prevents acid reflux.

Can I take antacids along with Rimcone-O Suspension?

Avoid taking aluminium and magnesium-containing antacids with Rimcone-O Suspension. Aluminium containing antacids and Rimcone-O Suspension could lead to constipation and intestinal obstruction, whereas magnesium-containing antacids might cause diarrhoea.
