Composition:
CARBAMAZEPINE-100MG
Uses:
Epilepsy/seizures, Trigeminal neuralgia
Medicinal Benefits:
ZEN 100 Tablet DT belongs to a group of medicines called anti-convulsants or anti-epileptics used to treat epilepsy and trigeminal neuralgia (face nerve pain). ZEN 100 Tablet DT works by reducing the electrical impulses and subsequent firing of the nerve impulses that cause fits. ZEN 100 Tablet DT decreases the excessive and abnormal nerve activity in the brain, thereby helping in controlling seizures. ZEN 100 Tablet DT is also used to relieve nerve pain associated with trigeminal neuralgia. People with glossopharyngeal neuralgia may also experience benefit with ZEN 100 Tablet DT. ZEN 100 Tablet DT is not associated with any psychological or physical dependence, and there is no potential for abuse.
ZEN 100 Tablet DT decreases the brain's excessive and abnormal nerve activity by blocking sodium currents in your brain and body. This reduces abnormal electrical activity between your nerve cells.
Do not discontinue ZEN 100 Tablet DT without consulting your doctor. To treat your condition effectually continue taking ZEN 100 Tablet DT for as long as prescribed. Do not be reluctant to speak with your doctor if you feel any difficulty while taking ZEN 100 Tablet DT; your doctor will reduce the dose gradually to avoid worsening of seizures.
ZEN 100 Tablet DT may affect the way hormone contraceptives work in your body. This may cause spotting or breakthrough bleeding. ZEN 100 Tablet DT may increase the risk of pregnancy as it makes the contraceptive less effective. Talk to your doctor, he/she will discuss the most suitable type of contraception while taking ZEN 100 Tablet DT to avoid pregnancy.
ZEN 100 Tablet DT may cause weight gain due to an increase in appetite. Maintain a healthy weight by following a healthy diet and exercising regularly.
Use an effective contraception method during the treatment with ZEN 100 Tablet DT and 2 weeks after the last dose. Avoid getting pregnant while taking ZEN 100 Tablet DT as it could lead to serious congenital disabilities. Do not stop taking ZEN 100 Tablet DT without consulting your doctor.
ZEN 100 Tablet DT may cause hyponatremia (low sodium levels in the blood). This could lead to confusion, reduced concentration, vision problems, nausea, vomiting or worsening of seizures. Regular monitoring of sodium levels is advised while taking ZEN 100 Tablet DT. Consult your doctor if you experience these symptoms.
Dry mouth could be a side-effect of ZEN 100 Tablet DT. Limiting caffeine intake, avoiding smoking and mouthwashes containing alcohol, drinking water regularly, and chewing sugar-free gum/candy might stimulate saliva and prevent drying of the mouth.
