Composition:
AVIBACTAM-0.5GM + CEFTAZIDIME-2GM
Uses:
Bacterial infections
Medicinal Benefits:
Zilias Injection contains Ceftazidime and Avibactam; they act against both aerobic (grow in the presence of oxygen) and anaerobic (grow in the absence of oxygen) gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria. It is used in the treatment of bacterial infections of the urinary tract, respiratory tract, and abdomen. Ceftazidime inhibits enzymes that regulate the formation of the bacterial cell wall, thereby arresting bacterial development. Avibactam is a beta-lactamase inhibitor. Beta-lactamase is an enzyme that inactivates antibiotics and builds up a drug resistance. By inhibiting beta-lactamase, avibactam makes the bacteria more susceptible to antibiotic action. Zilias Injection damages the bacterial cell wall, kills bacteria and makes the bacteria more sensitive to the action of the antibiotic. Hence Zilias Injection finds widespread use in treating complicated bacterial infections.
Zilias Injection works by damaging the bacterial cell wall (protective covering) that is necessary for their survival and by increasing bacterial sensitivity.
Zilias Injection may cause diarrhoea as a common side effect. However, if the condition persists, worsens or if you notice blood or mucus in stools, avoid taking Zilias Injection and consult a doctor immediately.
Exercise caution while taking Zilias Injection with diuretics/water tablets. You are not advised to take Zilias Injection with a diuretic called furosemide as co-administration of these two medicines may increase the risk of kidney problems, especially in patients with kidney impairment and also when Zilias Injection is given in high doses. However, please consult your doctor before taking Zilias Injection with other medicines.
Zilias Injection is not used to treat viral infections. Zilias Injection is an antibiotic that is used to treat only bacterial infections.
