Adzospas 40 Injection belongs to a group of medicines called anti-spasmodic agents used to treat smooth muscle spasms of the biliary tract, urinary tract, and gastrointestinal tract. It is also used to treat dysmenorrhea (painful periods) and severe spastic pain during labour. 

Adzospas 40 Injection contains 'Drotaverine', which works by relieving contractions associated with smooth muscles of the gastrointestinal tract, gall bladder, and urinary tract. Thus, it helps in relieving pain.

In some cases, Adzospas 40 Injection may cause side effects such as nausea, headache, dizziness, constipation, and vertigo (spinning sensation). Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently.

Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or planning pregnancy before taking Adzospas 40 Injection. Adzospas 40 Injection is not recommended during breastfeeding. Adzospas 40 Injection may cause dizziness, so drive only if you are alert. Keep your doctor informed about your health condition and medicines to rule out any side effects.

Adzospas 40 Injection can also be used in uncomplicated labour during the cervical dilation phase to shorten the dilation and overall labour duration.

Do not take Adzospas 40 Injection if you are allergic to any components. Inform your doctor if you have low blood pressure, porphyria (blood disorder), heart problems, or liver or kidney problems. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or planning pregnancy. Adzospas 40 Injection is not recommended during breastfeeding and in children. Adzospas 40 Injection may cause dizziness, so drive only if you are alert. Let your doctor know if you are taking prescription/non-prescription medicines, including herbal products and supplements.

• Exercising regularly helps in muscle stretching, making them less likely to spasm, tear and sprain. Mild exercises such as jogging and walking are helpful for muscle stretching.
• Massages can also be helpful.
• Avoid freezing and hot temperatures.
• Avoid wearing tight-fitting clothes; instead, wear loose garments.
• Rest well, and get plenty of sleep.
• To avoid developing pressure sores, change your position every two hours.
• Stay hydrated, and drink plenty of water.
