About Allercet Syrup

Allercet Syrup is an antihistamine medicine used in the treatment of allergies. It helps provide relief from various allergic reactions in children. An allergic reaction is a response that occurs when the foreign particles enter the body. This allergic reaction may vary from person to person. Allercet Syrup is used to treat allergic rhinitis and chronic idiopathic urticaria (swelling, redness, and itchiness of the skin).

Allercet Syrup which is an anti-allergic medicine works by blocking the effects of a chemical messenger called ‘histamine. This chemical messenger is naturally involved in allergic reactions. Cetirizine helps to relieve discomfort and unpleasant symptoms, like blocked/runny/itchy nose, red/watery eyes, and skin rashes that occur due to allergic conditions.

Allercet Syrup may cause certain side effects such as abdominal pain, headache, cold-like nose symptoms, or diarrhoea. These side effects do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or bother your child, please consult your paediatrician. Allercet Syrup should be given as advised by your paediatrician. Do not give more than the prescribed dose of to the child. Allercet Syrup can be given with or without food. The dose of the medicine will be decided by your paediatrician depending on the type and severity of the infection.

Allercet Syrup is intended for pediatric use only. Avoid giving Allercet Syrup to your child if she/he is allergic to it. Keep your doctor informed about your child’s health condition including ongoing medications and medical history to rule out any side effects/interactions. Before administration, inform your child’s doctor about liver and kidney disease. Allercet Syrup is not recommended for use in children below six months of age as its safety and efficacy are not established.

Syrup: Shake the container well before each use. Measure the required amount of this medicine into the measuring cup and administer it to your child. It is advised to measure the quantity accurately with the help of a syringe or measuring spoon containing markings.

How to manage the interaction:
Although there is an interaction, Allercet Syrup 60 ml can be taken with esketamine if prescribed by the doctor. Consult the prescriber if you experience drowsiness, confusion, difficulty concentrating, and impairment in thinking, judgment, reaction speed, and motor coordination. Do not discontinue the medication without consulting a doctor.
