About Altargo Ointment 5 gm

Altargo Ointment 5 gm is an antibiotic used to treat skin infections. It is a topical preparation used in the treatment of impetigo. Impetigo is a contagious skin infection causing red sores on the face. It involves the superficial area of the skin caused by organisms such as Staphylococcus aureus or Streptococcus pyogenes. Altargo Ointment 5 gm is suitable for use in both children and adults.

Altargo Ointment 5 gm contains Retapamulin, which belongs to the pleuromutilin class of antibacterial drugs. It works by inhibiting protein synthesis by preventing the formation of active 50s ribosomal subunits that are responsible for bacterial cell growth. This eventually leads to the death of the bacteria and helps reduce bacterial infections. 

Altargo Ointment 5 gm may cause certain side effects, such as itching, burning sensation, irritation, and redness at the site of application. These side effects do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if any of these side effects persist, inform your doctor immediately.
