About Averflox MS Syrup

Averflox MS Syrup is an antidiarrheal medicine used to treat diarrhea in children. Diarrhea is defined as loose, watery and frequent bowel movements. This can be acute (temporary) or chronic (long-lasting). Most times, diarrhoea can occur due to various types of bacteria.

Averflox MS Syrup is a combination medicine containing Ofloxacin (quinolone antibiotic), Metronidazole (antimicrobials), and Simethicone (digestive enzyme). Ofloxacin inhibits bacterial DNA replication by attaching to an enzyme known as DNA gyrase. Metronidazole kills parasites and anaerobic bacteria that are responsible for causing infections. It inhibits the protein synthesis interacting with DNA. Simethicone works by decreasing the surface tension of gas bubbles, thereby facilitating gas expulsion through flatus or belching (burping).

Averflox MS Syrup may cause certain side effects, such as vomiting, diarrhea, nausea, bloating, headache, and stomach pain. These side effects do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if these side effects persist or bother your child, please consult your pediatrician. Averflox MS Syrup should be given as advised by your child's doctor. Do not give your child more than the prescribed dose of Averflox MS Syrup. Averflox MS Syrup can be given with or without food. The dose of the medicine will be decided by your pediatrician, depending upon the severity of the infection.

Averflox MS Syrup is intended for pediatric use only. Avoid giving Averflox MS Syrup to your child if she/he is allergic to antibiotics. Keep your doctor informed about your child’s health condition and ongoing medications, including OTC drugs and vitamin supplements, to rule out any possible side effects/interactions. Let your child's doctor know if your child has lung disease, muscle weakness, liver and kidney disease before giving Averflox MS Syrup to the child.
