About Biosol Injection 1 ml

Biosol Injection 1 ml belongs to a class of drugs called corticosteroids used to treat symptoms associated with allergic reactions or inflammatory processes such as redness, swelling, and itching. It is used to treat severe allergic reactions, including reaction to drugs, local inflammation of joints or tendons of the eye, status asthmaticus (an extreme form of asthma), acute adrenal crisis, severe shock (collapse) due to injury, surgical or accidental trauma or overwhelming infection and soft tissue lesions such as tenosynovitis (inflammation of tendon sheath), tennis elbow, and bursitis (inflammation of fluid-filled sacs called bursae that cushion the joints).

Biosol Injection 1 ml contains Betamethasone, a steroid that works by acting inside skin cells and inhibits the release of certain chemical messengers in the body that cause redness, itching, and swelling. When the skin reacts to any type of allergens, such chemicals are released normally.

Biosol Injection 1 ml will be administered by a healthcare professional; do not self-administer. Some people may experience skin redness, itching, skin discolouration, tingling, numbness, burning pain, or stomach pain. Most of these side effects of Biosol Injection 1 ml do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

If you are allergic to Betamethasone, other steroids or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. If you are pregnant or planning for pregnancy, please inform your doctor before taking Biosol Injection 1 ml. Consult a doctor before taking Biosol Injection 1 ml if you are a breastfeeding mother as Biosol Injection 1 ml is excreted in human milk. Biosol Injection 1 ml may affect the growth of children. Therefore, inform your doctor if your child is not growing at a normal rate while taking Biosol Injection 1 ml. Avoid alcohol consumption with Biosol Injection 1 ml as it may increase the risk of ulcers. If you notice mood changes or have depression and strange thoughts while taking Biosol Injection 1 ml, inform your doctor immediately.

Drug-Diseases Interactions

BETAMETHASONE-4MGOther and unspecified infectious diseases
Severe
How does the disease interact with Biosol Injection 1 ml:
Corticosteroids' immunosuppressive and anti-inflammatory properties, especially when used in larger doses, have the potential to reduce host resistance to pathogens, impair the ability to localise infections, and disguise infection-related symptoms. Perhaps secondary infections are more likely to occur. In general, individuals with active infections—especially systemic fungal infections—should not be treated with corticosteroids.

How to manage the interaction:
Biosol Injection 1 ml may lower the host resistance to infectious agents, decrease the ability to localize infections, and mask the symptoms of infection. Secondary infections may also develop. It should not be used in patients with active infections unless medically necessary.
BETAMETHASONE-4MGCarrier of infectious disease
Moderate
How does the disease interact with Biosol Injection 1 ml:
Pharmacologic doses of corticosteroids may reactivate latent tuberculosis in people who have it or who are tuberculin-reactive. If corticosteroid medication is given to individuals with a history of TB or tuberculin reactivity, close monitoring for signs and symptoms of tuberculosis is advised. Consideration may be given to tuberculosis chemoprophylaxis when receiving prolonged corticosteroid medication.

How to manage the interaction:
Biosol Injection 1 ml may cause a reactivation of the disease in patients with latent tuberculosis. It is advised to closely monitor for signs and symptoms of tuberculosis such as cough, tiredness, loss of appetite, and fever.
BETAMETHASONE-4MGFibrosis and cirrhosis of liver
Moderate
How does the disease interact with Biosol Injection 1 ml:
Due to a reduced rate of metabolism, corticosteroids may have a greater impact on cirrhotic patients. Cirrhotic patients should have their cortisol levels constantly monitored. In some people, dosage modifications might be necessary.

How to manage the interaction:
Biosol Injection 1 ml may have enhanced effects in patients with cirrhosis. Monitoring the condition of patients with cirrhosis is advised.
BETAMETHASONE-4MGDepressive episode
Moderate
How does the disease interact with Biosol Injection 1 ml:
Psychotic and emotional instability symptoms may be increased severely by corticosteroids. During corticosteroid medication, patients with these disorders should be watched for any worsening or intensification of their symptoms.

How to manage the interaction:
Biosol Injection 1 ml may elevate the symptoms of psychosis and emotional instability. Monitoring of patients with these conditions for increased or worsened symptoms is recommended.
BETAMETHASONE-4MGType 1 diabetes mellitus
Moderate
How does the disease interact with Biosol Injection 1 ml:
By opposing the effect of insulin and inhibiting its secretion, corticosteroids can increase blood sugar levels. This inhibits peripheral glucose uptake and increases gluconeogenesis. Patients with diabetes mellitus, glucose intolerance, or a tendency for hyperglycemia should receive corticosteroid therapy with caution. During corticosteroid medication, patients with diabetes mellitus should be monitored more carefully, and their anti-diabetic regimen should be changed correspondingly.

How to manage the interaction:
Biosol Injection 1 ml may raise blood glucose levels. Monitoring of blood sugar levels in patients with diabetes is advised.
BETAMETHASONE-4MGOther disorders of fluid, electrolyte and acid-base balance
Moderate
How does the disease interact with Biosol Injection 1 ml:
Hypernatremia, hypokalemia, and fluid retention are side effects of corticosteroids. Patients who already have electrolyte abnormalities should use corticosteroids with caution. Additionally, care should be taken while managing patients with seizure disorders since electrolyte imbalances might result in seizure activity.

How to manage the interaction:
Biosol Injection 1 ml may cause fluid retention, low potassium, and high sodium levels. Caution is advised in patients with electrolyte disturbances.
BETAMETHASONE-4MGOedema, not elsewhere classified
Moderate
How does the disease interact with Biosol Injection 1 ml:
Hypernatremia, hypokalemia, fluid retention, and an increase in blood pressure are all possible side effects of corticosteroids. Patients who already have fluid retention, hypertension, congestive heart failure, and/or renal impairment should use corticosteroids with caution. Potassium supplements and dietary salt control may be advised.

How to manage the interaction:
Biosol Injection 1 ml may cause fluid retention, low potassium, high sodium levels, and elevated blood pressure. Caution is advised in patients with pre-existing fluid retention, high blood pressure, congestive heart failure, and/or kidney dysfunction.

Disease/Condition Glossary

Allergy: It is a condition that occurs when the immune system reacts to a foreign substance that is typically not harmful to your body. These foreign substances are known as ‘allergens.’ Allergic condition varies from person to person. Some might be allergic to certain foods, certain medications, and seasonal allergies like hay fever, pollen, or pet dander. The symptoms of an allergic reaction include itching, rash, scratchy throat, itchy or watery eyes, hives or itchy red spots on the skin, or allergic rhinitis (which causes sneezing or nasal congestion).

Inflammation: It is a response generated by damage to living tissues. This response is a defence mechanism to protect the body from injury, infection, or disease. The symptoms of inflammation include redness, pain, swelling, heat, or loss of function. Inflammation can be caused due to certain medications, acute and chronic conditions, exposure to foreign materials or irritants your body can’t eliminate easily.
