About BIOTAX SB 375MG INJECTION

BIOTAX SB 375MG INJECTION belongs to the class of medications called ‘antibiotics’ used to treat bacterial infections. Bacterial infections are caused by the multiplication of harmful bacteria inside or on the body. These harmful bacteria produce chemicals known as toxins, which can damage tissue and make you sick. Symptoms of bacterial infection vary depending on the organ affected by bacteria.

BIOTAX SB 375MG INJECTION is a combination of two medicines: Cefotaxime and Sulbactam. Cefotaxime is a cephalosporin antibiotic. It has bactericidal action (kills bacteria). It works by preventing the formation of the cell wall (the outer protective layer of bacteria, which is essential for its survival) by preventing protein synthesis. Sulbactam inhibits the action of beta-lactamase. Beta-lactamase is an enzyme produced by bacteria that can destroy antibiotics (cefotaxime).

BIOTAX SB 375MG INJECTION will be administered by a healthcare professional; do not self-administer. The common side effects of BIOTAX SB 375MG INJECTION are pain and swelling at the injection site, skin rash, diarrhoea, nausea and vomiting. These side effects are usually mild and temporary. However, if any of these side effects persist or get worse, inform your doctor immediately.

It is not recommended to take BIOTAX SB 375MG INJECTION if you are allergic to penicillin, any cephalosporin antibiotic or its contents. Before taking BIOTAX SB 375MG INJECTION, inform your doctor if you have kidney problems, are on a low-salt diet, have diabetes or using other antibiotics. Do not discontinue or abruptly stop using BIOTAX SB 375MG INJECTION as it may lead to antibiotic resistance (bacteria become resistant to antibiotics). BIOTAX SB 375MG INJECTION is probably safe when used in children, pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers and elderly people. BIOTAX SB 375MG INJECTION may not interact with alcohol. BIOTAX SB 375MG INJECTION may cause dizziness, so do not drive or operate heavy machinery if you feel dizzy.

Side effects of Biotax Sb 375mg Injection
Here are the precise steps to cope with diarrhoea caused by medication usage:
  • Inform Your Doctor: Notify your doctor immediately about your diarrhoea symptoms. This allows them to adjust your medication or provide guidance on managing side effects.
  • Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of fluids to replace lost water and electrolytes. Choose water, clear broth, and electrolyte-rich drinks. Avoid carbonated or caffeinated beverages to effectively rehydrate your body.
  • Follow a Bland Diet: Eat easy-to-digest foods to help firm up your stool and settle your stomach. Try incorporating bananas, rice, applesauce, toast, plain crackers, and boiled vegetables into your diet.
  • Avoid Trigger Foods: Steer clear of foods that can worsen diarrhoea, such as spicy, fatty, or greasy foods, high-fibre foods, and dairy products (especially if you're lactose intolerant).
  • Practice Good Hygiene: Maintain good hygiene to prevent the spread of infection. To stay healthy, wash your hands frequently, clean and disinfect surfaces regularly, and avoid exchanging personal belongings with others.
  • Take Anti-Diarrheal Medications: If your doctor advises, anti-diarrheal medications such as loperamide might help manage diarrhoea symptoms. Always follow your doctor's directions.
  • Keep track of your diarrhoea symptoms. If they don't get better or worse or are accompanied by severe stomach pain, blood, or dehydration signs (like extreme thirst or dark urine), seek medical help.
Managing Medication-Triggered Thrombophlebitis (Inflammation of a vein): A Step-by-Step Guide:
  • If you have symptoms such as pain, swelling, redness, or warmth in your veins after taking medication, contact your doctor right once. Share information about your symptoms, medication regimen, and medical history.
  • Your doctor will then assess your medication regimen to determine if it's contributing to the thrombophlebitis. This assessment will help identify the best course of action to manage your condition and prevent further complications.
  • Your doctor may suggest certain diet and lifestyle changes to help manage your condition. This may include increasing your intake of foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids, staying hydrated, exercising regularly, and maintaining a healthy weight. Your doctor may also advise medications to reduce inflammation, prevent blood clots, or manage pain if necessary.
  • If your condition does not improve or persists, consult your doctor and report your condition. Your doctor will assess your progress, adjust your treatment plan if necessary, and provide appropriate advice to ensure the best possible outcome.
  • Chest pain may last for a while and needs immediate medical attention as it is a significant health issue to be attended to.
  • Take rest and refrain from doing physical activity for a while, and restart after a few days.
  • Try applying an ice pack to the strained area for at least 20 minutes thrice a day. Ice pack thus helps reduce inflammation.
  • Sit upright and maintain proper posture if there is persistent chest pain. • Use extra pillows to elevate your position and prop your chest up while sleeping.
  • Rest well; get enough sleep.
  • Wear comfortable layers of clothes and get to a warm place.
  • Drink warm fluids like coffee, tea or hot chocolate.
  • Warm up using a blanket or heating pad.
  • Painful urination can be reduced by drinking lots of water.
  • Don't hold urine, as it can worsen the pain during urination.
  • Try taking probiotics and eating garlic, which can help reduce painful urination.
  • Sleep well and give enough rest to your body.
  • Take a balanced diet and avoid bladder-irritating foods.
  • Quit smoking and intake of alcohol.
  • Practice yoga and meditation to improve inner strength and stay healthy.
  • Reduce salt intake to minimize fluid buildup.
  • Use compression stockings, sleeves, or gloves.
  • Gently massage the affected area towards the heart.
  • Protect the swollen area from injury and keep it clean.
  • Use lotion or cream to keep the skin moisturized.

Diet & Lifestyle Advise

  • Probiotics should be taken after taking the full course of BIOTAX SB 375MG INJECTION to restore some healthy bacteria in the intestines that may have been killed. Taking probiotics after antibiotic treatment can reduce the risk of antibiotic-associated diarrhoea. Certain fermented foods like yogurt, cheese, sauerkraut, kombucha and kimchi can help restore the intestine's good bacteria.
  • Include more fiber-enriched food in your diet, as it can be easily digested by your gut bacteria, which helps stimulate their growth. Thus, fiber-rich foods may help restore healthy gut bacteria after a course of antibiotics. Whole grains like whole-grain bread and brown rice should be included in your diet.
  • Avoid alcoholic beverages with BIOTAX SB 375MG INJECTION as they can make you dehydrated and may affect your sleep.  This can make it harder for your body to aid the BIOTAX SB 375MG INJECTION in fighting off infections.

Disease/Condition Glossary

Bacterial infections: A bacterial infection is a condition in which harmful bacteria enter, multiply and infect the body. It can target any organ of the body and multiply very quickly. Many give off chemicals called toxins, which can damage tissue and make you sick. Bacterial infections vary from minor illnesses (like sore throat and ear infections) to severe brain infections (like meningitis and encephalitis). When you get infected with bacteria, you can experience generalized symptoms, like fevers, chills and fatigue. A few harmful bacteria that commonly cause infections include Streptococcus, Staphylococcus and E. coli. Anyone can get a bacterial infection but people with a weak immune system or taking immunosuppressive medicines like steroids are more prone to infections.
