Candicef 20Gm Cream belongs to a class of dermatological medication ‘Topical Anti-Infectives with Corticosteroids’ used to reduce swelling, itching, and redness caused due to certain skin infections (psoriasis, dermatitis, eczema, allergies, rash) caused by bacteria and fungus. Fungal infection is a skin disease in which a fungus attacks the tissue and causes infection. Fungal infections may be contagious (spread from one person to another). A bacterial infection is a condition in which harmful bacteria grows in the body and causes infection. It can infect any part of the body and multiply very quickly.
Candicef 20Gm Cream contains four medicines namely Clobetasol, ofloxacin, ornidazole, and terbinafine. Clobetasol belongs to the class of corticosteroids that works by acting inside skin cells and inhibits the release of certain chemical messengers in the body that cause redness, itching, and swelling. Ofloxacin is an antibiotic that kills bacteria by stopping them from replicating and restoring themselves. Ornidazole is also an antibiotic that kills other infectious bacteria in addition to bacteria by harming the DNA. Terbinafine is an antifungal that prevents the growth of fungi by stopping them from developing their protective covering.
You are advised to use Candicef 20Gm Cream for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you depending on your medical conditions. You may experience burning, irritation, itching, and redness at the site of application, skin peeling, and thinning of the skin. Most of these side effects of Candicef 20Gm Cream do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.
