Celol XT Plus Tablet 10's belongs to the class of medicines called dietary supplements used to prevent bone loss in peri and post-menopausal women. Perimenopause means the time around menopause during which ovaries produce less estrogen and stops releasing eggs. Postmenopause is a condition in which women have not had a period for 12 months or longer. Celol XT Plus Tablet 10's is a combination of five drugs, namely: Calcium, Vitamin D3, Magnesium, Isoflavones, and Vitamin K2. Vitamin D3 helps in improving the absorption rate of calcium from the stomach. Calcium is a mineral that is used to prevent or treat a calcium deficiency. It provides essential nutrients to maintain bone formation. Magnesium is a mineral that promotes the normal functioning of muscles. Isoflavones work by strengthening bones in postmenopausal women. Vitamin K2 helps maintain bone density.

Take Celol XT Plus Tablet 10's as advised. In some cases, you may experience constipation or flatulence (gas). Most of these side effects of Celol XT Plus Tablet 10's do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

If you are allergic to Celol XT Plus Tablet 10's or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, please consult a doctor before taking Celol XT Plus Tablet 10's. Celol XT Plus Tablet 10's is not recommended for children below 18 years of age. Celol XT Plus Tablet 10's is contraindicated in patients on a low sodium diet. You are recommended to avoid using other vitamin D preparations with Celol XT Plus Tablet 10's. Drug-Drug Interaction: Celol XT Plus Tablet 10's may interact with antibiotics (doxycycline, minocycline, ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin), drugs used to treat bone loss (alendronate), anti-cancer drug (estramustine), thyroid drugs (levothyroxine), high cholesterol-lowering medicines (cholestyramine, colestipol), weight-loss drugs (orlistat), iron supplement (ferrous sulphate), calcium supplements (ergocalciferol, cholecalciferol), painkillers (aspirin), antidepressants (duloxetine).

Drug-Food Interaction: Avoid intake of spinach, rhubarb, bran and whole grains with Celol XT Plus Tablet 10's as they may reduce the absorption of calcium.

Drug-Disease Interaction: Avoid taking Celol XT Plus Tablet 10's if you have hypercalcaemia (high calcium levels in the blood), hyperparathyroidism (overactive parathyroid glands), Zollinger Ellison syndrome, kidney stones and hypercalciuria (excess calcium in the urine), impaired kidney function or vitamin D toxicity. Also, Celol XT Plus Tablet 10's is contraindicated in patients who are on a low sodium diet.

• Include dairy products like milk, yoghurt, cheese, or milk-based custard in your diet.
• Eat daily a serving of broccoli, cabbage, bok choy (Chinese white cabbage), spinach, and other green leafy vegetables.
• Snack on calcium-rich nuts like Brazil nuts or almonds.
• Sprinkle sesame seeds over your food, vegetables, and salads. Sesame seeds are high in calcium.
• Avoid or reduce the intake of caffeine, soft drinks, and alcohol as they may inhibit calcium absorption.
• Replace the meat with tofu or tempeh for extra calcium in your food.

Osteoporosis: It is a bone disease that weakens and thins bones by decreasing bone density. As the density of bones decreases, they weaken and are more likely to break. Post-menopausal women are more likely to develop osteoporosis than men because, at menopause, a woman’s ovaries stop production of oestrogen (a female hormone) which is essential to keep bones healthy. Following menopause, bone loss occurs, making bones weak and more likely to break. Also, long-term use of steroids may affect bone strength and cause osteoporosis in men and women. Signs and symptoms include back pain caused by a fractured or collapsed vertebra, loss of height over time, a stooped posture, and a bone that breaks much more easily than expected.
