About Coligon 20mg Tablet

Coligon 20mg Tablet belongs to a group of medications called 'antispasmodics' (spasm and cramps reliever) primarily used for reducing stomach pain due to spasms, cramps, and irritable bowel syndrome. Abdominal spasm is a condition in which the abdominal muscles, intestine, and stomach contract severely. Stomach spasms can be caused due to muscle strain, dehydration, stomach gas formation, inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) like Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, gastritis (stomach inflammation), pregnancy, constipation, or other gastrointestinal infection.

Coligon 20mg Tablet contains “Dicycloverine”, which reduces spasms and pain by relaxing the muscles and blocking certain chemical messengers in the brain responsible for causing the sensation of pain.

You are advised to take Coligon 20mg Tablet for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you, depending on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience certain common side effects, such as dryness in the mouth, dizziness, weakness, blurred vision, nervousness, sleepiness, constipation, difficulty urination, and nausea. Most of the side effects of Coligon 20mg Tablet do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. Please consult your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently.

Please do not stop taking Coligon 20mg Tablet on your own as it might cause withdrawal symptoms. Your doctor may reduce your dose gradually. Coligon 20mg Tablet contains Dicycloverine, which works by relaxing the smooth muscles in the stomach and gut (intestine). It also blocks certain chemical messengers (acetylcholine) from binding to muscarinic receptors on smooth muscle, which cause pain sensation, thereby stopping sudden muscle contractions (spasms), and relieving cramps, pain, bloating, and discomfort.

Severe
How does the disease interact with Coligon 20mg Tablet:
Anticholinergic substances can make several autonomic neuropathy symptoms worse, such as tachycardia, anhidrosis, and male sexual impotence. In individuals with autonomic neuropathy, antimuscarinic therapy and stronger antispasmodic dosages should be used with caution.

How to manage the interaction:
Higher dosages of Coligon 20mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with autonomic neuropathy (damage to the nerves that control automatic body functions).
DICYCLOVERINE-20MGParalytic ileus and intestinal obstruction without hernia
Severe
How does the disease interact with Coligon 20mg Tablet:
Anticholinergic medications should not be used in people with obstructive illnesses such achalasia. Anticholinergics may further reduce intestinal motility, causing a toxic megacolon to develop or worsen as a result.

How to manage the interaction:
Coligon 20mg Tablet is contraindicated in patients with obstructive diseases such as achalasia (difficulty in passing food and liquid into the stomach), oesophagal stricture or stenosis (abnormal tightening or narrowing of the food pipe), pyloroduodenal stenosis (narrowing of the opening from the stomach to the first part of the small intestine called pylorus), stenosing peptic ulcer, pyloric obstruction, and paralytic ileus (muscle contractions that move food through your intestines are temporarily paralyzed).

How does the disease interact with Coligon 20mg Tablet:
Patients with primary glaucoma, a propensity for glaucoma, or adhesions between the iris and lens, as well as the elderly and other people who may have undiagnosed glaucoma or high eye pressure, should not use anticholinergic medications. Anticholinergics may make these problems worse because they produce mydriasis.

How to manage the interaction:
Coligon 20mg Tablet is contraindicated in patients with primary glaucoma, a tendency toward glaucoma (narrow anterior chamber angle), or adhesions (synechiae) between the iris and lens, as well as for the elderly and others in whom undiagnosed glaucoma or excessive pressure in the eye may be present as this medicine may worsen these conditions.
DICYCLOVERINE-20MGNeuromuscular dysfunction of bladder, not elsewhere classified

How does the disease interact with Coligon 20mg Tablet:
Patients with urine retention and bladder neck obstruction brought on by prostatic hypertrophy should not take anticholinergic medications. Dysuria is a possibility that might call for catheterization. Anticholinergic medications may also make partial obstructive uropathy worse.

How to manage the interaction:
Use of anticholinergic agents such as Coligon 20mg Tablet is contraindicated in patients with urinary retention and bladder-neck obstruction caused by prostatic hypertrophy (enlarged prostate gland).
DICYCLOVERINE-20MGMyasthenia gravis and other myoneural disorders

How does the disease interact with Coligon 20mg Tablet:
Antimuscarinic medications are not advised for use in people with myasthenia gravis since they have anticholinergic effects. It may be suitable to use them to lessen the negative muscarinic effects brought on by an anticholinesterase drug.

How to manage the interaction:
Coligon 20mg Tablet is contraindicated in patients with myasthenia gravis (skeletal muscle weakness).

How does the disease interact with Coligon 20mg Tablet:
Tardive dyskinesia can be made worse by anticholinergic medications and medications with secondary anticholinergic effect. If symptoms of tardive dyskinesia appear or get worse while you are on an anticholinergic medication, stopping the medication right away will increase your chances of curing the illness.

How to manage the interaction:
Coligon 20mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with preexisting tardive dyskinesia (involuntary repetitive body movements), particularly in the elderly.
