FAQs

Disease/Condition Glossary

Oral thrush or oropharyngeal candidiasis: Oral thrush is a fungal infection that affects the mouth. It is not contagious and is typically treated effectively with antifungal treatment. It is also known as oropharyngeal candidiasis or candidiasis since the Candida yeast family causes it. White patches (plaques) in the mouth, loss of taste or an unpleasant flavour, redness within the mouth and throat, fissures at the mouth corners, and a painful and burning sensation in the mouth are the symptoms of oral thrush. Oral thrush symptoms can make eating and drinking difficult in some circumstances.
