New Coscopin Plus Sugar Free Suspension is a combination of Noscapine (cough suppressant), Ammonium chloride (expectorant), and Sodium citrate (mucolytic agent). Noscapine belongs to the cough suppressants class that blocks the transmission of nerve signals from the cough centre in the brain to the muscles that produce cough, thereby decreasing the need to cough. Ammonium chloride belongs to the class of expectorants that reduce mucus stickiness and clear airways. Sodium citrate is a mucolytic agent (cough/sputum thinner) that works by thinning and loosening phlegm (mucus) in the lungs, windpipe, and nasal passage. 

Your doctor will recommend how often your child needs to take New Coscopin Plus Sugar Free Suspension based on his/her medical condition. Sometimes, New Coscopin Plus Sugar Free Suspension may cause side effects such as headache, dizziness, nausea, constipation, and drowsiness. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or bother your child, please consult a doctor.

• Avoid dairy products such as milk as it may increase mucus production. Also, avoid processed or refined foods to have relief from cough. Instead replace baked foods, fried foods, white bread, white pasta, French fries, sugary desserts, and chips with green leafy vegetables.
• Let your child drink plenty of fluids to avoid a dry throat while he/she has a cough which helps loosen mucus.
• Avoid citrus fruits as they may worsen the cough. Give fruits rich in water content such as pears, watermelon, peaches, and pineapples to your child.
