Covihalt Tablet belongs to a group of antiviral medicines used to treat corona virus disease. Besides this, Covihalt Tablet is also indicated for the treatment of influenza, ebola and other pathogenic viral infections. Corona virus disease, also known as SARS-CoV-2 (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Corona Virus 2), is an infectious disease caused by the corona virus.
 
Covihalt Tablet contains ‘Favipiravir’, which inhibits RNA polymerase, an enzyme that helps the corona virus to replicate itself. Thereby, Covihalt Tablet lowers the virus load in the body and helps treat the infection.
 
You are advised to take Covihalt Tablet for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you depending on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience certain common side effects such as diarrhoea, hyperuricemia (elevated uric acid), reduced neutrophil count, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. You are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently.
 
Do not take Covihalt Tablet if you are pregnant, think you are pregnant or planning for pregnancy. Avoid breastfeeding while taking Covihalt Tablet . Use effective contraception during and for seven days after the treatment with Covihalt Tablet . Seek medical help immediately if you have a severe cough, fever, or difficulty breathing. Keep your doctor informed about your health condition and the medicines you are taking to prevent any side effects/interactions.

• Always remember to wear a mask when you are around other people. Wearing a mask helps in preventing the spread of infection.
• Maintain social distance and avoid gatherings.
• Clean your hands regularly with soap and water or an alcohol-based sanitiser.
• Clean and disinfect surfaces regularly.
• Stay home and isolate yourself if you feel unwell.
• Drink plenty of fluids. Stay well hydrated.
• Saltwater gargling and steam inhalation would be helpful.
• Exercise regularly. Try walking for 10 minutes in the morning, afternoon, evening and night.
• Consume protein-rich foods.
