About Dewax Ear Drops 10 ml

Dewax Ear Drops 10 ml belongs to the group of medicines called otic agents used to soften the hard, solidified, obstructive, impacted external earwax (accumulated earwax) to facilitate easy removal and relieve ear discomforts such as pain and infection. Earwax, also called cerumen helps to protect the inside of the ear canal from micro-organisms and foreign particles. When the ear glands produce more earwax than necessary it gets hard and blocks the ear. Unremoved ear wax can lead to infections.

Dewax Ear Drops 10 ml is a combination of four medicines: Paradichlorobenzene (hydrating agent), Lignocaine (local anaesthetic), Chlorbutol (preservative) and Turpentine oil (lubricating agent). Paradichlorobenzene softens the ear wax by reducing its thickness. Lignocaine decreases the sensation of pain by blocking the pain signals. Chlorbutol acts as a preservative and wax softener. Turpentine oil acts as a lubricating agent. Together, Dewax Ear Drops 10 ml helps in softening the ear wax.

Dewax Ear Drops 10 ml is for otic (ear) use only. You are advised to use Dewax Ear Drops 10 ml for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you, depending on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience certain common side-effects such as irritation and headache. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if the side effects persist or worsen.

Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Dewax Ear Drops 10 ml should be used in children only if prescribed by the doctor. Inform your doctor regarding other prescription, non-prescription and herbal medicines you are taking to prevent any side effects/interactions. Do not touch the tip of the dropper, as it may contaminate the contents. Do not put cotton into the ear after administration of ear drops. Dewax Ear Drops 10 ml is an otic solution that is to be used only to treat infected ears; do not instil it in the eyes.

Impacted earwax: Earwax, also called cerumen, helps to protect the inside of the ear canal from micro-organisms and foreign particles. When the ear glands produce more earwax than necessary, it gets hard and blocks the ear. This condition can lead to ear pain, itching, ringing sensation, dizziness or loss of hearing. It occurs due to frequent use of earphones, cotton swabs or other objects in the ear that can push earwax deeper, causing a blockage in the ear. Unremoved ear wax can lead to infections. Signs of impacted earwax include ear pain, feeling of fullness in the ear, tinnitus (ringing/buzzing sound in the ear) and partial hearing loss.
