Dexoren-SP Eye/Ear Drops 5 ml belongs to the class of combination medications called ‘antibiotics' and 'steroids' used for the treatment of bacterial eye infections and ear infections. A bacterial infection is a condition in which harmful bacteria grow in the body and cause infection. It can infect any part of the body and multiply very quickly. Dexoren-SP Eye/Ear Drops 5 ml does not work against infections caused by viruses and fungi.

Dexoren-SP Eye/Ear Drops 5 ml is a combination of Chloramphenicol, Dexamethasone, and Polymyxin B. Chloramphenicol is an antibiotic that acts by interfering with the formation of essential proteins required for bacterial growth. Dexamethasone is a steroid that reduces inflammation and symptoms associated with infection, such as redness and irritation. Polymyxin B is bactericidal that works by killing the bacterial cell by preventing bacterial cell walls' formation essential for survival. Together Dexoren-SP Eye/Ear Drops 5 ml prevent the spread of eye and ear infections caused by a wide range of gram-negative bacteria causing eye/ear infections. 

You should use this medicine as prescribed by your doctor. When used in the eyes, the common side effects are eye discomfort, eye irritation, and a burning sensation in the eye. When used as ear drops, the side effects include mild irritation and temporary ear discomfort. Most of these side effects of Dexoren-SP Eye/Ear Drops 5 ml do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects worsen or persist, please consult your doctor.

If you are allergic to Dexoren-SP Eye/Ear Drops 5 ml or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. Dexoren-SP Eye/Ear Drops 5 ml should be used with caution in children. Drug-Drug Interactions: Dexoren-SP Eye/Ear Drops 5 ml may interact with an anti-cancer agent (methotrexate), immune suppressant (azathioprine), antiviral drug (ritonavir), and a medication used to treat HIV (cobicistat). 

Drug-Food Interactions: No interactions found. 

Drug-Disease Interactions: Dexoren-SP Eye/Ear Drops 5 ml should not be used in patients with fungal infections, viral infections such as herpes simplex or varicella, or parasitic infections such as amoebiasis, tuberculosis, damaged cornea, ulceration, and glaucoma (increased pressure inside the eye).

• Sleep for at least six to eight hours to rejuvenate your eyes naturally.
• Wash your eyes with clean water at least two to three times a day
• Manage stress, eat healthily, drink plenty of water, exercise regularly and get plenty of sleep.
• Keep your ear clean and dry.
• Avoid alcoholic beverages as they can make you dehydrated and affect your sleep. This effect can also affect your body’s ability to fight off infections.

• Do not wear contact lenses while using Dexoren-SP Eye/Ear Drops 5 ml eye drops.
• Avoid getting water in your ears while bathing, showering, or swimming while treating an ear infection.
• Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight while using Dexoren-SP Eye/Ear Drops 5 ml as it may cause increased photosensitivity (sensitivity to light).

Conjunctivitis: The inflammation or infection of the conjunctiva (white part of the eye) and the inner eyelid. It is a highly contagious infection that is spread by secretions of the eye. Symptoms include redness, itch, and discharge or crusting around the eye.

Bacterial ear infection: The outer, middle, and inner regions of the ear are all affected when a bacterium invades the ear, which causes bacterial ear infection. Due to inflammation and fluid buildup in the middle ear, ear infections can be uncomfortable. Short-term to long-term ear infections can be acute or chronic in nature. The term 'middle ear infection' also applies to otitis media.
