About Diprovate S Plus Cream
Diprovate S Plus Cream is a dermatological medication, primarily used to treat eczema and psoriasis. Eczema is a skin condition associated with inflamed, itchy, cracked and rough skin patches. Psoriasis is a skin disease in which skin cells multiply rapidly to form bumpy (uneven) red patches covered with white scales.
Diprovate S Plus Cream is composed of three medicines: Betamethasone (corticosteroid), Salicylic acid (peeling agent), and Zinc oxide (antiseptic and astringent). Betamethasone belongs to the class of corticosteroids. It blocks the production of prostaglandins (chemical messengers) that make the affected area red, swollen and itchy. Betamethasone treats inflammation and itchiness caused by eczema and psoriasis. Salicylic acid is a keratolytic medicine (softens, separates, and causes desquamation (peeling) of the cornified epithelium or horny layer of skin). It increases the amount of moisture in the skin and dissolves the substance that causes the skin cells to stick together. Zinc oxide is a mild antiseptic and astringent (cleanses skin and tightens pores). It works by forming a barrier on the skin to protect it from moisture and irritants.
Your doctor will advise the appropriate use of Diprovate S Plus Cream that suits your infection. Common side effects of Diprovate S Plus Cream include itching, dryness, and burning sensation at the application site. These side effects are temporary and gradually resolve over time. If the side effects are persistent, please consult your doctor.
Let your doctor know if you are sensitive to Diprovate S Plus Cream or any other medications. Do not use topical Diprovate S Plus Cream on open wounds, blisters and lesions. Please do not cover the affected areas with a dressing or bandage since it increases the side effects. Diprovate S Plus Cream is not recommended for use in diaper rash and chickenpox. Pregnant and breastfeeding mothers should consult the doctor before starting Diprovate S Plus Cream.

Medicinal Benefits
Diprovate S Plus Cream treats various skin infections, such as eczema, psoriasis. It consists of Betamethasone, Salicylic acid and Zinc oxide. Betamethasone is a corticosteroid that blocks the production of prostaglandins (chemical messengers) that make the affected area red, swollen and itchy. It treats inflammation and itchiness caused by eczema and psoriasis. Salicylic acid is a keratolytic medicine (softens, separates and causes desquamation (peeling) of the cornified epithelium or horny layer of skin). It increases the amount of moisture in the skin and dissolves the substance that causes the skin cells to stick together. Salicylic acid breaks down the clumps of keratin, removes dead skin cells, and softens the skin. It is also an anti-inflammatory agent and topical antibacterial. Zinc oxide is a mild antiseptic and astringent (cleanses skin and tightens pores). It is a mineral that treats minor burns, severely chapped skin and other minor skin irritations. When applied to the skin, it forms a barrier to protect it from moisture and irritants. Thus, it acts as a protective coating for mild skin irritations and abrasions. Diprovate S Plus Cream removes the scaling and reduces the redness and itchiness due to skin infections.

Diprovate S Plus Cream works by increasing the amount of moisture in the skin and relieves the inflammation and itchiness caused due to various skin infections like eczema and psoriasis. Diprovate S Plus Cream also protects the skin from external irritants by forming a barrier.
When used for longer periods, Betamethasone in Diprovate S Plus Cream gets absorbed in the blood circulation and can cause adrenal suppression and Cushing's syndrome. Your doctor will decide the dose and duration of Diprovate S Plus Cream based on the severity of your infection. It is advised to use Diprovate S Plus Cream only for the prescribed period since long term usage of Diprovate S Plus Cream on the skin may cause increased hair growth, and weakening and thinning of the skin.
Please do not stop using Diprovate S Plus Cream on your own even if the symptoms are relieved. Your symptoms may improve before the skin infection is completely cured. Continue the usage of Diprovate S Plus Cream until your course advised by the doctor is finished.
Diprovate S Plus Cream is for topical (for skin) use only. Do not put bandage or dressing on the affected area while treating with Diprovate S Plus Cream unless the doctor advised doing so. Do not apply Diprovate S Plus Cream on mucous membranes, lesions, or large areas of skin. If the medicine gets into your eyes, nose or mouth, rinse with cold water.
