About Doxil-100 Tablet

Doxil-100 Tablet belongs to a group of medications called antibiotics, used to treat bacterial infections such as urinary tract infections, intestinal infections, respiratory infections, eye infections, gum infections, and sexually transmitted infections (like gonorrhoea, syphilis). Bacterial infections are caused due to the multiplication of harmful bacteria inside or on the body. Doxil-100 Tablet does not work against infections caused by the virus, including cold and flu.

Doxil-100 Tablet contains Doxycycline and Lactic acid bacillus. Doxycycline prevents the synthesis of essential proteins which are necessary for the survival of the bacteria, thereby kills the bacteria. Lactic acid bacteria is a microorganism that helps restore the balance of good bacteria in the gut, which may have gotten upset due to infections or antibiotic use. Together, Doxil-100 Tablet helps in treating bacterial infections.

You are advised to take Doxil-100 Tablet for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you, depending on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience common side-effects such as nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, and stomach upset. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if the side effects persist or worsen.

Inform your doctor if you are allergic to any of the components in Doxil-100 Tablet. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Do not take Doxil-100 Tablet if you are allergic to any of its components. Avoid taking Doxil-100 Tablet on your own as self-medication may lead to antibiotic resistance in which antibiotics fail to act against specific bacterial infections. Inform your doctor if you have myasthenia gravis (muscle weakness/tiredness), porphyria (genetic disease of blood pigments), kidney or liver problems. Doxil-100 Tablet contains Doxycycline and Lactic acid bacillus. Doxycycline prevents the synthesis of essential proteins which are necessary for the survival of the bacteria, thereby kills the bacteria. Lactic acid bacteria is a microorganism that helps in restoring the balance of good bacteria in the gut, which may have gotten upset due to infections or antibiotic use. Together, Doxil-100 Tablet helps in treating bacterial infections.

It is recommended to complete the course of Doxil-100 Tablet even if you feel better, as it is an antibiotic. Leaving it in between may lead to even severe infection that will, in fact, stop responding to the antibiotic as well (antibiotic resistance).

Doxil-100 Tablet is unlikely to cause diarrhoea as it contains lactic acid bacillus, a friendly bacteria. Lactic acid bacillus is a probiotic which helps in restoring the balance of good bacteria in the gut, which may have gotten upset due to infections or the use of antibiotics. Thereby, helps in preventing diarrhoea.

Doxil-100 Tablet contains doxycycline, which might make you sunburn more easily. Wear protective clothing, sunglasses and sunscreen whilst going outside.

Avoid taking iron supplements, calcium supplements, multivitamins, laxatives or antacids along with Doxil-100 Tablet. Maintain a gap of two hours between Doxil-100 Tablet and other medicines.
