About Doxyla B6 Forte Tablet

Doxyla B6 Forte Tablet belongs to the class of medications called “anti-emetics” primarily used to treat nausea (feeling sick) and vomiting (being sick) during pregnancy. Morning sickness (nausea and vomiting during pregnancy) is a common symptom of pregnancy. It is usually happening within the first trimester (first four months) of pregnancy, but some pregnant women have it throughout pregnancy. In some cases, pregnant women experience excessive nausea and vomiting that progresses to a condition called hyperemesis gravidarum. It causes electrolyte imbalances and weight loss in pregnant women. Nausea is an uneasy feeling in which a person feels an urge to vomit while vomiting is the natural response of the body to discharge the stomach content forcefully.

Doxyla B6 Forte Tablet is a combination of two drugs, namely: Doxylamine and Pyridoxine (vitamin B6) used to treat nausea and vomiting during pregnancy. It prevents the feeling of nausea and sickness in pregnant women. Besides this, it also provides nutrition to the body. Doxylamine belongs to the class of antihistamines that works by blocking the natural chemical (histamine) in the body, thereby preventing nausea and vomiting. Pyridoxine (vitamin B6) is a form of vitamin. Vitamin B6 deficiency may cause nausea and vomiting during pregnancy. Pyridoxine works by increasing the level of vitamin B6 in the body and treat nausea and vomiting during pregnancy.

Take Doxyla B6 Forte Tablet as prescribed. You are advised to take Doxyla B6 Forte Tablet for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you depending on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience certain common side effects such as dizziness, stomach pain, constipation, and dry mouth. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently.

If you are allergic to Doxyla B6 Forte Tablet or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. Doxyla B6 Forte Tablet should not be taken by breastfeeding mothers as it passes into breast milk. Doxyla B6 Forte Tablet should not be given to children as safety and efficacy have not been established. Doxyla B6 Forte Tablet may affect the ability to drive soon should avoid driving or operating any machine. Taking Doxyla B6 Forte Tablet with MAO inhibitors (a drug used to treat depression) can cause side effects worse and last longer, even leading to death, so avoid its intake together. Avoid consuming alcohol along with Doxyla B6 Forte Tablet as it could lead to increased dizziness.

Directions for Use

Take Doxyla B6 Forte Tablet 25-30 minutes prior to food or as advised by the doctor. Swallow it as a whole with a glass of water; do not chew, or crush it.

Tell your doctor if you are taking medicines for depression and cough or cold medicines, sleeping medicines, or certain pain medicines. Doxyla B6 Forte Tablet should not be taken by breastfeeding mothers as it passes into breast milk. How does the drug interact with Doxyla B6 Forte Tablet:
Taking Doxyla B6 Forte Tablet with tranylcypromine can increase the risk of serotonin syndrome(a condition in which a chemical called serotonin increase in your body).

How to manage the interaction:
There may be a possibility of interaction between Doxyla B6 Forte Tablet and Tranylcypromine, but can be taken together if prescribed by a doctor. However, consult a doctor if you experience confusion, hallucination(seeing and hearing things that do not exist), fits, blood pressure alteration, increased heart rate, fever, excessive sweating, shivering or shaking, blurred vision, pain in the muscles or stiffness, incoordination, stomach cramps, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Do not discontinue any medications without consulting your doctor.

Taking Doxyla B6 Forte Tablet and Potassium citrate (in tablet or capsule form) together can increase the risk of stomach ulcers, bleeding, and other gastrointestinal injury.

There may be a possibility of interaction between Potassium citrate and Doxyla B6 Forte Tablet, but it can be taken if prescribed by a doctor. However, if you experience severe stomach pain, bloating, sudden lightheadedness or dizziness, nausea, vomiting (especially with blood), decreased hunger, or dark, tarry stools, consult the doctor immediately.   • Take a healthy diet that includes lots of fruits and vegetables, lean meats, skinless poultry, nuts, fish, whole grains, plant-based oils, and low-fat dairy products will help to keep good health and avoid chances of nausea and vomiting.
  • One should avoid taking greasy or oily foods as this food triggers nausea and vomit.
  • Eat cool foods instead of hot and spicy foods.
  • Include clear broths, non-fat yogurt, fruit juice, sherbet and sports drinks for fluid make up which has got lost due to vomiting.
  • Include more cool beverages in your food like clear soup, flavored gelatin, and carbonated beverages. Also, when you drink with a stray, sip slowly to avoid swallowing air that may lead to gas and acidity.
  • Drink after or any other liquid at least 30 minutes after eating food.
