About Easypreg OD Tablet

Easypreg OD Tablet belongs to the class of medications called ‘anti-emetics’ primarily used to treat nausea (feeling sick) and vomiting (being sick) during pregnancy. Morning sickness (nausea and vomiting during pregnancy) is a common symptom of pregnancy. It usually begins in the 6th week of pregnancy, lasting up to 16 to 18 weeks. However, some pregnant women have it throughout pregnancy. It can lead to electrolyte imbalances and weight loss in pregnant women.

Easypreg OD Tablet contains Doxylamine, Pyridoxine, and Folic acid. Doxylamine is an antihistamine that works by blocking the natural chemical (histamine) in the body, thereby preventing nausea and vomiting. Pyridoxine is vitamin B6, and its deficiency may cause nausea and vomiting. It works by restoring the levels of vitamin B6 in the body and treating nausea and vomiting during pregnancy. Folic acid is also a form of vitamin B, which can provide essential nutrients during pregnancy.

You should take this medicine exactly as prescribed by the doctor. The common side-effects of Easypreg OD Tablet are dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, tiredness and constipation. These side-effects are usually mild and temporary. However, if any of these side-effects persist or get worse, inform your doctor immediately.

It is not recommended to take Easypreg OD Tablet if you are allergic to any contents of it. Before taking Easypreg OD Tablet , inform your doctor if you have asthma, glaucoma (increased pressure in the eye), stomach ulcer, blockage in the stomach and small intestine, blockage in the bladder, and vitamin B12 deficiency. It is not recommended for use in children and breastfeeding mothers. Do not consume alcohol while taking this medicine as it may increase the risk of side-effects. Easypreg OD Tablet may cause drowsiness and dizziness, so do not drive or operate heavy machinery if you are not fully alert.

Take this medicine before food, i.e. 1 or 2 hours before a meal. Swallow Easypreg OD Tablet as a whole with water; do not crush, break or chew it.

Easypreg OD Tablet is usually prescribed for pregnant women to prevent nausea and vomiting. So, do not use it for any other indication without consulting your doctor. It is not recommended to use Easypreg OD Tablet along with monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitors (antidepressants). In addition, inform your doctor if you are receiving anticoagulant (blood thinners) therapy, sleeping pills, pain killers and cough or cold medicines. Do not stop taking this medicine abruptly as it may lead to the recurrence of your symptoms.

How does the drug interact with Easypreg OD Tablet:
Taking Easypreg OD Tablet with tranylcypromine can increase the risk of serotonin syndrome(a condition in which a chemical called serotonin increase in your body).

How to manage the interaction:
There may be a possibility of interaction between Easypreg OD Tablet and Tranylcypromine, but can be taken together if prescribed by a doctor. However, consult a doctor if you experience confusion, hallucination(seeing and hearing things that do not exist), fits, blood pressure alteration, increased heart rate, fever, excessive sweating, shivering or shaking, blurred vision, pain in the muscles or stiffness, incoordination, stomach cramps, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Do not discontinue any medications without consulting your doctor.

Taking Easypreg OD Tablet and Potassium citrate (in tablet or capsule form) together can increase the risk of stomach ulcers, bleeding, and other gastrointestinal injury.

There may be a possibility of interaction between Potassium citrate and Easypreg OD Tablet, but it can be taken if prescribed by a doctor. However, if you experience severe stomach pain, bloating, sudden lightheadedness or dizziness, nausea, vomiting (especially with blood), decreased hunger, or dark, tarry stools, consult the doctor immediately. Do not discontinue any medications without consulting the doctor.

Taking Easypreg OD Tablet with Fentanyl together can increase the risk of adverse effects.

Co-administration of Easypreg OD Tablet with Fentanyl can result in an interaction, but it can be taken if your doctor has advised it. Consult your doctor immediately if you feel drowsiness, loss of balance, or confusion. If you have any of the above symptoms, it is advised not to drive or use any hazardous machinery. Do not stop taking any medication without consulting your doctor.

Trimethoprim may decrease the blood levels and effects of Easypreg OD Tablet.

How does the drug interact with Easypreg OD Tablet:
Coadministration of Easypreg OD Tablet and Cholestyramine may interfere with the absorption of Easypreg OD Tablet.

How to manage the interaction:
Although taking Cholestyramine and Easypreg OD Tablet together can result in an interaction, they can be taken together if prescribed by a doctor. However, if you experience Constipation, Diarrhea, Stomach pain, Nausea, or Loss of appetite, consult a doctor. Do not stop using any medications without consulting a doctor.

Coadministration of Easypreg OD Tablet and Fluorouracil may increase the effects of Fluorouracil and increase the risk of serious side effects such as bleeding problems, anaemia (lack of blood), infections, and nerve damage.

Although there is a possible interaction between Easypreg OD Tablet and Fluorouracil, you can take these medicines together if prescribed by your doctor. However, if you experience diarrhoea, paleness of skin, severe nausea and vomiting, over-tiredness, dizziness, fainting, blood in the stools, unusual bleeding or bruising, fever, chills, body pains, flu-like symptoms, skin reactions, mouth ulcers or sores, and/or numbness, burning or tingling in your hands and feet, contact your doctor.

Co-administration of Easypreg OD Tablet with Capecitabine may increase the risk of serious side effects such as bleeding problems, anemia, infections, and nerve damage.

Although there is a possible interaction between Easypreg OD Tablet and Capecitabine, you can use these medicines together if prescribed by the doctor. However, if you experience paleness of skin, diarrhea, severe nausea and vomiting, over-tiredness, dizziness, fainting, blood in the stools, unusual bleeding or bruising, fever, chills, body aches, flu-like symptoms, skin reactions, mouth ulcers or sores, and/or numbness, burning or tingling sensation in the hands and feet, contact a doctor.
