About Efnocar-T 40 mg/40 mg Tablet

Efnocar-T 40 mg/40 mg Tablet is an anti-hypertensive medicine primarily used in the treatment of Hypertension. It also helps reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke and angina (chest pain). Hypertension (high blood pressure) is a serious condition in which the force exerted by the blood against the artery walls becomes high. This makes it difficult for the heart to pump blood.

Efnocar-T 40 mg/40 mg Tablet is a combination medicine containing Efonidipine (calcium channel blockers) and Telmisartan (angiotensin receptor blocker). Efonidipine works by relaxing the blood vessels. This reduces the workload on the heart and makes the heart more efficient for pumping blood throughout the body. Telmisartan works by blocking the action of certain substances that are responsible for tightening the blood vessels. It allows the blood to flow more smoothly and makes the heart more efficient at pumping blood.

Efnocar-T 40 mg/40 mg Tablet may cause certain common side effects such as sore back, diarrhoea, congested feeling, spinning sensation, and soreness in the sinus that usually resolve after some time. This medicine can be taken with or without food. It should be used only upon the doctor’s advice. Always remember not to take more than the prescribed dose of medicine.

Efnocar-T 40 mg/40 mg Tablet should not be used if you are allergic to it. Inform your doctor about your medical history and current medication including herbs and supplements before starting the treatment with Efnocar-T 40 mg/40 mg Tablet . This can help reduce side effects/interactions. It should be used with caution if you are diagnosed with congestive heart failure, liver disease, and peripheral oedema (swelling of hands/legs). Frequent monitoring of blood pressure is important while taking this medicine. Avoid consumption of alcohol as it may make you feel drowsy or sleepy and may lead to serious side effects. It is not recommended for use in children below 18 years of age. It is unknown whether Efnocar-T 40 mg/40 mg Tablet can be used by pregnant or breastfeeding women. Hence, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, inform your doctor before using Efnocar-T 40 mg/40 mg Tablet .

Directions for Use

Efnocar-T 40 mg/40 mg Tablet should be taken as advised by the doctor. It can be taken with or without food. It is advised not to take more than the prescribed dose. Swallow the whole tablet with a glass of water. Do not crush, chew, or break it.

Diet & Lifestyle Advise

  • Try to maintain your weight under control with a BMI of 19.5-24.9.
  • Doing regular physical activity or exercise for at least 30 minutes daily can help you to lower your raised blood pressure.
  • Opt for a diet rich in whole grains, fruits, veggies and low-fat dairy products. 
  • Reduce the intake of table salt in your daily diet to 2300 mg per day for better results.
  • Quitting smoking and alcohol consumption is the best strategy to lower the risk of heart disease. 
  • Avoid chronic stress as it can raise your blood pressure.
  • Monitor your blood pressure daily and if there is too much fluctuation then immediately contact your doctor.

It is advised to continue your medicine even after your blood pressure is under control or becomes normal as blood pressure can shoot up any time. If you have a persistent headache, or any other side effects, please consult your doctor immediately.

If you miss a dose of Efnocar-T 40 mg/40 mg Tablet , you are advised to take it as soon as you remember. Do not double the dose as it may lead to a lowering of blood pressure. Take this medicine daily at the same time.

  • Sudden withdrawal of Efnocar-T 40 mg/40 mg Tablet may worsen angina (chest pain). However, if you experience chest pain, consult your doctor immediately.
