About Emprogest EV 200 Tablet

Emprogest EV 200 Tablet belongs to the class of medicines known as hormones used to treat female infertility and to aid pregnancy. It is also used to restore the menstrual cycle in women who have missed their periods. Female infertility is a condition in which a female body is unable to conceive despite regular, unprotected sexual intercourse for at least one year.

Emprogest EV 200 Tablet contains progesterone, a female hormone that regulates ovulation and menstruation in women. Emprogest EV 200 Tablet induces secretory changes in the endometrium lining of the uterus, relaxes the uterus, blocks the maturation and release of follicles and maintains pregnancy.

Use Emprogest EV 200 Tablet as directed by your doctor. It is intended for intra-vaginal use only. In some cases, Emprogest EV 200 Tablet may cause abdominal pain, headache, constipation, nausea, and breast pain/enlargement. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects are persistent, reach out to your doctor.

Before using Emprogest EV 200 Tablet inform your doctor if you have/had liver or kidney problems, heart problems, diabetes, asthma, epilepsy, migraine or depression. Let your doctor know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Keep your doctor informed about your health condition and all the medicines you are taking to rule out any side effects/interactions. Avoid smoking and alcohol consumption.

Directions for Use

Vaginal spray: Check the label for directions before using the spray. Shake well before each use. Spray the contents from a 5cm distance on the affected area.Vaginal gel: Apply the gel into the vagina using the applicator.

Side effects of Emprogest EV 200 Tablet
  • Chest pain may last for a while and needs immediate medical attention as it is a significant health issue to be attended to.
  • Take rest and refrain from doing physical activity for a while, and restart after a few days.
  • Try applying an ice pack to the strained area for at least 20 minutes thrice a day. Ice pack thus helps reduce inflammation.
  • Sit upright and maintain proper posture if there is persistent chest pain. • Use extra pillows to elevate your position and prop your chest up while sleeping.

Do not use Emprogest EV 200 Tablet if you are allergic to any of its components, or if you have unexplained vaginal bleeding, porphyria, cancer, thrombophlebitis and missed abortion or miscarriage. Keep your doctor informed about your health condition and all the medicines you are taking before taking Emprogest EV 200 Tablet to rule out any side effects/interactions. Emprogest EV 200 Tablet is not recommended for children.

Emprogest EV 200 Tablet causes secretory changes in the uterine endometrium, relaxes the uterus, prevents follicle maturation, and helps to maintain pregnancy.

Do not use Emprogest EV 200 Tablet if you are allergic to any of its components or if you have/had porphyria, breast or genital cancer, abnormal vaginal bleeding due to miscarriage or missed abortion, blood clots or stroke, liver disease or abnormal liver tests.

Abnormal uterine bleeding, irregular or missed periods (amenorrhea), abdominal pain during pregnancy and frequent miscarriages are the signs of low progesterone. Additionally, low progesterone levels lead to high estrogen levels, and women can have decreased sex drive, weight gain or gallbladder problems.

Emprogest EV 200 Tablet may cause vaginal spotting, vaginal irritation, or application site reactions. Consult your doctor if the condition persists or worsens.

Special Advise

  • Before taking this medication, your doctor will do a smear test and examine your breasts and pelvic area.
  • Your doctor will look for any womb issues during your treatment, such as the thickening of the endometrial lining (endometrial hyperplasia). 
  • They will also examine your blood vessels for symptoms of blood clots.
