About Esmotor Injection
Esmotor Injection belongs to the group of medicines called beta-blockers used for the short-term treatment of fast heartbeat. It is also used during and straight after surgery to treat high blood pressure and/or fast heartbeat.
Esmotor Injection contains Esmolol, which works by controlling the force and rate of heartbeat. It also helps reduce the blood pressure. Thereby, it helps slow down the heart rate and reduce blood pressure.
In some cases, Esmotor Injection may cause side effects such as a fall in blood pressure, excessive sweating, loss of appetite, and headache. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if the side effects persist or worsen.
Do not use Esmotor Injection if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Esmotor Injection is not recommended for children below 18 years as the efficacy and safety have not been established. Inform your doctor about all the medicines you are taking and your health condition to rule out any unpleasant side effects/interactions.

Disease/Condition Glossary
High blood pressure (hypertension): It is a condition in which the blood exerts increased pressure on the walls of blood vessels, leading to hypertension. This condition can lead to hardened arteries (blood vessels), decreasing the blood and oxygen flow to the heart. Symptoms of high blood pressure include headache, dizziness, nose bleed, changes in vision, chest pain, weakness and dyspnoea (shortness of breath). However, most of the time, the signs and symptoms of hypertension are none.
Tachycardia: It is a condition in which the heart beats faster than usual, usually 100 beats per minute. Symptoms include lightheadedness/dizziness, palpitations/rapid heartbeat, fatigue, shortness of breath, chest discomfort, and fainting.
