About Etaze AF Solution

Etaze AF Solution is a dermatological medication primarily used to treat fungal skin infections. It is used to treat various skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis, ringworm, athlete's foot, jock itch, dermatitis (itchy, dry skin or rash), and tinea versicolor (lightening or darkening of the skin of the neck, chest, and arms, or legs). Eczema is a skin condition associated with inflamed, itchy, cracked, and rough skin patches. Psoriasis is a disease in which skin cells multiply rapidly to form bumpy (uneven) red patches covered with white scales. Fungal infection occurs when a fungus invades and affects the tissue on the skin.

Etaze AF Solution is composed of two medicines: Mometasone (corticosteroid) and Terbinafine (antifungal). Mometasone belongs to the class of corticosteroids. Corticosteroids have anti-inflammatory, immunosuppressive, and antiproliferative (inhibit cell growth) properties. It blocks the production of prostaglandins (chemical messengers) that make the affected area red, swollen, and itchy. Mometasone effectively treats inflammation and itchiness caused by eczema and psoriasis. On the other hand, Terbinafine is an antifungal medication that treats fungal infections, such as athlete's foot, jock itch, and ringworm. It works by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol in the fungal cell membrane (a compound present in the fungi to maintain cell integrity) and resulting in fungal cell death.

Etaze AF Solution is available in the form of cream, gel, and lotion. Your doctor will advise the appropriate dose that suits your infection. Etaze AF Solution has common side effects like skin peeling, itching, irritation, dryness, redness, and burning sensation at the application site. These side effects usually go away during the treatment. Tell your doctor if you face any side effects like skin rash, headache, swelling, thinning, nausea, and vomiting after using Etaze AF Solution.

Etaze AF Solution is for topical (for skin) use only. Let your doctor know if you have allergic reactions to Mometasone, Terbinafine, or other medications. If you are using any other prescription, non-prescription drugs, herbal, or vitamin supplements, please inform your doctor before using Etaze AF Solution. Do not use Etaze AF Solution on sensitive areas like nostrils, ears, lips, or genitals. Avoid dressing the infected areas after applying Etaze AF Solution unless the doctor advised you to do so. Using steroids in pregnancy or breastfeeding may increase the risk of low birth weight in the newborn baby. Hence, Pregnant and breastfeeding mothers should consult the doctor before starting Etaze AF Solution. Etaze AF Solution is not approved for use in children below 12 years of age.

Drug Warnings

Avoid contact of Etaze AF Solution with nose, mouth, or eyes as it may irritate. In case Etaze AF Solution comes in contact with these areas accidentally, rinse with water thoroughly. Mometasone may also increase the risk of infection in patients exposed to viral illnesses like chickenpox or measles. Topical use of corticosteroids may sometimes cause systemic immunosuppression (decreased ability to fight infections), which further worsens the infections, hence Etaze AF Solution should be used with caution in patients with active infections.  Pregnant and breastfeeding mothers should consult the doctor before starting Etaze AF Solution. Etaze AF Solution is not recommended for children below 12 years of age.

FAQs

Etaze AF Solution consists of Mometasone and Terbinafine. Mometasone, a corticosteroid, works by blocking prostaglandin's production (chemical messengers), which makes the affected area red, swollen, and itchy. Terbinafine is an antifungal medication that interferes with fungi growth leading to the fungal cell's death.

Etaze AF Solution is for topical (for skin) use only. Do not put a bandage or dressing on the affected area while treating with Etaze AF Solution unless the doctor advised. If the medicine gets into your eyes, nose, mouth or vagina, rinse with cold water. Do not apply Etaze AF Solution on open wounds, lesions and blisters.

Please consult your doctor before using Etaze AF Solution if you have other viral skin infections, diaper rash, diabetes, poor blood circulation, immune system problems, Cushing's disease (high cortisol levels), cataract and glaucoma, heart, liver, and kidney diseases. Let your doctor know if you are allergic to Etaze AF Solution or any of its components.

Etaze AF Solution is not recommended for diaper rash, since it contains a corticosteroid, Mometasone furoate. Your baby's paediatrician may suggest other medications for the treatment of diaper rash.

Etaze AF Solution, when used for longer periods, can cause thinning and weakening of the skin. Please stop using Etaze AF Solution and immediately consult your doctor if you notice these symptoms.

Do not stop taking Etaze AF Solution on your own even if the symptoms are relieved until your full course advised by the doctor is finished.
