About Exocin Eye Ointment 5 gm
Exocin Eye Ointment 5 gm belongs to the class of medicines called antibiotics used to treat bacterial eye infections including conjunctivitis and ulcers of the cornea. Conjunctivitis (pink eye) is a common bacterial eye infection associated with the inflammation or infection of the conjunctiva (white part of the eye) and the inner eyelid.
Exocin Eye Ointment 5 gm contains Ofloxacin which works by inhibiting DNA gyrase (bacterial enzyme) involved in repairing and replicating the DNA (genetic material) of bacteria. Thereby, kills bacteria and clears infection.
Use Exocin Eye Ointment 5 gm as prescribed by your doctor. Exocin Eye Ointment 5 gm is only for use in eyes. You are advised to use Exocin Eye Ointment 5 gm for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you based on your medical condition. Exocin Eye Ointment 5 gm works by inhibiting DNA gyrase (bacterial enzyme) involved in repairing and replicating the DNA (genetic material) of bacteria. Thereby, kills bacteria and clears the infection.
You are not recommended to wear contact lenses while using Exocin Eye Ointment 5 gm as it contains benzalkonium chloride, a preservative that changes the colour of contact lens as it may be absorbed by soft contact lens. Benzalkonium chloride also causes irritation in the eye especially if you have disorders of cornea (transparent layer at the front of eye) or dry eyes. Therefore, you are advised to remove contact lenses before using Exocin Eye Ointment 5 gm and reinsert them after 15 minutes after using Exocin Eye Ointment 5 gm. Also, inform your doctor if you experience pain, stinging or abnormal sensation in the eye after using Exocin Eye Ointment 5 gm.
Exocin Eye Ointment 5 gm may cause temporary blurred vision immediately after using. Therefore, you are recommended to wait until your vision is clear before driving or operating machinery.
