Exospas 10 mg Tablet belongs to a group of medicines called anti-spasmodic agents used to relieve abdominal and irritable bowel syndrome pain, cramps, and discomfort. It may also be used for diagnostic and therapeutic medical procedures where spasms might be a problem, such as gastroduodenal endoscopy, and to produce smooth muscle relaxation prior to radiological procedures like pyelography.
Exospas 10 mg Tablet contains ‘Hyoscine butylbromide’ that stops muscle contractions by relaxing the muscles in the stomach, intestine, and bladder. Thereby providing relief from cramps, discomfort, and pain.
Take Exospas 10 mg Tablet as prescribed. In some cases, Exospas 10 mg Tablet may cause side-effects such as dry mouth, constipation, blurred vision, abnormal/reduced sweating, and fast heart rate. Most of these side-effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side-effects persistently.
Do not take Exospas 10 mg Tablet if you are pregnant, likely to get pregnant, or breastfeeding. Exospas 10 mg Tablet may cause blurred vision, so drive only if you are alert. Exospas 10 mg Tablet is not recommended for children below 6years as the safety and effectiveness have not been established. Drug Warnings
Do not take Exospas 10 mg Tablet if you are allergic to any of its contents, if you have glaucoma, myasthenia gravis (muscle problems), blockage of the bowel, paralytic/obstructive ileus, or enlarged bowel. Inform your doctor if you have severe constipation, blood in stools, loss of appetite, difficulty passing urine, fever, fast heart rate, severe sweating problem, or if you are 40years or above. Do not take Exospas 10 mg Tablet if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Exospas 10 mg Tablet may cause blurred vision, so drive only if you are alert. Exospas 10 mg Tablet is not recommended for children below 6 years as safety and effectiveness have not been established. Stop taking Exospas 10 mg Tablet and consult your doctor immediately if you observe blood in stools, changes in bowel movements, abdominal tenderness, low blood pressure, nausea, vomiting, and fever.

Exospas 10 mg Tablet stops the muscle contractions by relaxing the muscles in the stomach, intestine, and bladder. Thereby providing relief from cramps, discomfort, and pain.
Dry mouth could be a side-effect of Exospas 10 mg Tablet . Limiting caffeine intake, avoiding smoking and mouthwashes containing alcohol, drinking water regularly, and chewing sugar-free gum/candy might stimulate saliva and prevent drying of the mouth.
Constipation might be a side-effect of Exospas 10 mg Tablet . Drink enough fluids and eat fibre-rich food if you experience constipation. Talk to your doctor if the condition persists or worsens.
Consult your doctor before taking Exospas 10 mg Tablet if you have tachycardia as Exospas 10 mg Tablet might increase the heart rate further, which could lead to unpleasant complications. Regular monitoring of heart rate while taking Exospas 10 mg Tablet is advised.
Exospas 10 mg Tablet helps to relieve pain and cramps during periods by relaxing the muscles in the stomach and intestine. However, you are advised to take Exospas 10 mg Tablet only if prescribed by the doctor.
Do not take Exospas 10 mg Tablet at the same time as anti-emetic drugs such as domperidone and metoclopramide as they stop each other from working. Exospas 10 mg Tablet works by decreasing the movement of the gut, whereas domperidone and metoclopramide increase the movements of the gut. Consult your doctor if you have any concerns.
