About Fertomid-100 Tablet

Fertomid-100 Tablet belongs to the group of medications called 'ovulation stimulants' used to treat infertility in women who are not ovulating (producing an egg) properly or have irregular or no menstrual cycle. The problem with ovulation is a common cause of infertility in women.

Fertomid-100 Tablet contains 'Clomifene Citrate' that works by stimulating the production of hormones responsible for the ovulation process.

Take Fertomid-100 Tablet as prescribed by your doctor. The common side-effects of Fertomid-100 Tablet are flushing (reddening of the skin, especially the face), headache, tiredness, dizziness, breast pain or tenderness, heavy periods, or bleeding between periods. Tell your doctor if any of these side effects persist or worsen.

Do not take Fertomid-100 Tablet if you are allergic to any of its ingredients, have liver disease, unexplained and unusual menstrual bleeding, have a type of cancer that gets worse by hormones, or have an ovarian cyst. Fertomid-100 Tablet is not recommended for pregnant women, children, adolescents, men, and post-menopausal women. Inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding as this medicine may affect the amount of breast milk produced.

Do not consume Fertomid-100 Tablet if you are allergic or hypersensitive to Clomifene Citrate or any other ingredients of Fertomid-100 Tablet. Inform your doctor if you are having an early menopause, diagnosed as infertile, menstrual periods were stopped due to being underweight, previously diagnosed with fits or seizures (fits), uterine fibroids (non-cancerous tumours in the womb), polycystic ovaries (presence of small cysts on the enlarged ovaries), swollen ovaries, or hypertriglyceridemia (increased fat levels in the body) or a family history of hypertriglyceridemia.

Although there is an interaction, Fertomid-100 Tablet can be taken with Bexarotene if prescribed by the doctor. Consult the prescriber if you experience symptoms of pancreatitis such as persistent nausea, vomiting, abdominal tenderness, and upper abdominal pain, especially that which is made worse after eating or radiates to the back. Abnormal uterine bleeding: In patients who are not diagnosed with abnormal genital bleeding, Fertomid-100 Tablet is contraindicated. Evaluate the patients for the presence of neoplastic lesions.

Hepatic dysfunction: Fertomid-100 Tablet is contraindicated for patients who have liver failure or a past history of hepatic dysfunction. The Fertomid-100 Tablet is primarily metabolized in the liver and enters into enterohepatic circulation. Thus, there will be increase in serum concentration and half-life of Fertomid-100 Tablet.

Pituitary activity: Fertomid-100 Tablet is contraindicated for patients who have uncontrolled thyroid or adrenal dysfunction, or who have an organic intracranial lesion such as a pituitary tumour. Fertomid-100 Tablet interacts with oestrogen receptors in several tissues, including the pituitary, causing a rise in pituitary gonadotropin secretion.

Hyperlipidemia: Some patients who are on Fertomid-100 Tablet therapy have reported hypertriglyceridemia. Preexisting hyperlipidemia or a family history of hyperlipidemia, Higher doses of Fertomid-100 Tablet for a long period are related to an increased risk of hypertriglyceridemia. In this conditions, Monitor plasma triglycerides regular basis and also at base line before initiating the therapy with Fertomid-100 Tablet.

How to manage the interaction:
Hypertriglyceridemia may occur during Fertomid-100 Tablet therapy, especially in patients with a family history of hyperlipidemia and use of higher than the recommended dose and/or longer duration of treatment. Periodic monitoring of plasma triglycerides is recommended in patients with preexisting or family history of hyperlipidemia. Pretreatment screening of triglyceride levels is advised in patients initiating Fertomid-100 Tablet therapy.
