About Fucidin H Cream

Fucidin H Cream is a dermatological medication used to treat bacterial skin infections and atopic dermatitis. A bacterial infection is a condition in which harmful bacteria enter the body through the skin and cause infection. Atopic dermatitis is a skin condition in which the immune system becomes triggered, thereby causing inflammation, dry skin, itching, and a skin rash that appears purple or grey, or red. Fucidin H Cream does not treat viral or fungal skin infections.

Fucidin H Cream is a combination of two drugs: Fusidic acid (antibiotic) and Hydrocortisone acetate (corticosteroid). Fusidic acid inhibits essential proteins necessary for bacteria to grow and multiply. Hydrocortisone acetate inhibits the release of certain chemical messengers in the body that cause redness, itching, and swelling. Together, Fucidin H Cream helps treat skin infections.

Fucidin H Cream is only for external use. Your doctor will advise on how often you use Fucidin H Cream based on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience itching, irritation, or burning sensation at the site of application. Most of these side effects of Fucidin H Cream do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, please inform your doctor before using Fucidin H Cream. Apply Fucidin H Cream with caution near the eyes as Fucidin H Cream may lead to glaucoma if it gets into the eye. Do not cover or wrap the treated area with bandages unless advised by your doctor. Avoid smoking or going near naked flames as the fabric (bedding, clothing, dressings) in contact with Fucidin H Cream catches fire and burns easily.

Uses of Fucidin H Cream

Bacterial skin infections, Atopic dermatitis (eczema)

Directions for Use

Fucidin H Cream is only for external use. Take a small amount of Fucidin H Cream and gently apply as a thin layer on the affected area of the skin as prescribed by your doctor. Wash your hands before and after applying Fucidin H Cream, unless the treated area is hands. If you are using Fucidin H Cream on your face, avoid contact with your eyes as it may cause irritation. In case Fucidin H Cream comes in contact with eyes accidentally, rinse with water thoroughly. If you still have a problem with your eye or notice any vision problems, consult your doctor immediately.

Medicinal Benefits

Fucidin H Cream is a combination of two drugs, namely Fusidic acid, and Hydrocortisone acetate, which reduces swelling, itching, and redness caused due to bacterial skin infections and atopic dermatitis. Fusidic acid is a narrow-spectrum antibiotic that is active against gram-positive bacteria and works by inhibiting the production of essential proteins necessary for bacteria to grow, multiply, and increase numbers. Hydrocortisone acetate is a corticosteroid that acts inside skin cells and inhibits the release of certain chemical messengers in the body that cause redness, itching, and swelling. Together, Fucidin H Cream helps treat skin infections.

Drug Warnings

If you are allergic to Fucidin H Cream or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, please inform your doctor before taking Fucidin H Cream. Do not swallow Fucidin H Cream. In case of accidental swallowing, please consult a doctor. Do not apply Fucidin H Cream in the eye as it may lead to glaucoma or cataract. If you experience blurred vision or other vision disturbances, please consult a doctor. Do not wrap or cover the treated area with bandages unless advised by your doctor as it may increase the risk of adverse effects. Avoid smoking or going near naked flames as the fabric (bedding, clothing, dressings) in contact with Fucidin H Cream catches fire and burns easily, which is a serious fire hazard. Do not apply Fucidin H Cream in large amounts or use for a long time than prescribed as it does not give quick or better results but increases the risk of side effects and makes skin more sensitive to Fucidin H Cream. If you have rosacea (redness and often red, small, pus-filled bumps on the face), acne, perioral dermatitis (redness and swelling of the skin around the mouth), tuberculosis, diabetes, syphilis (a bacterial infection), chickenpox or sores, athlete’s foot, broken veins or skin ulcers, please inform your doctor before using Fucidin H Cream.

Disease/Condition Glossary

Bacterial skin infection: It occurs when bacteria enter the body through the skin. Bacterial skin infections are generally mild and can be treated using topical antibiotics. Few infections need treatment using an oral antibiotic. Symptoms of a skin infection include rashes, blisters, cracked/dry skin, itching, redness, swelling, stinging, or burning sensation.

Atopic dermatitis (eczema): This is a skin condition in which the immune system becomes triggered, thereby causing inflammation, dry skin, itching, and a skin rash that appears purple or grey, or red. Eczema is caused due to change in the gene, which forms filaggrin (protein). This protein gets damaged due to the bacterial infection damaging the skin barrier, allowing bacteria to cause dry, itchy, and allergic skin.
