About Gibtulio 10 mg Tablet

Gibtulio 10 mg Tablet belongs to a group of antidiabetic medicines (sodium-glucose co-transporter-2 (SGLT2) inhibitors). Gibtulio 10 mg Tablet is prescribed for the condition of type 2 diabetes when diet and exercise alone cannot control their blood sugar levels. Type 2 diabetes is a condition where the body does not make enough insulin, or the insulin that it makes does not work properly.

Gibtulio 10 mg Tablet contains empagliflozin, which works by blocking the sodium-glucose co-transporter-2 (SGLT-2) enzyme in the kidney's proximal tubules. It lowers renal reabsorption of glucose and increases urine excretion of glucose via inhibiting SGLT2. As a result, it lowers blood sugar levels in diabetics.

Take Gibtulio 10 mg Tablet as prescribed. You are advised to take Gibtulio 10 mg Tablet for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you, depending on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience certain common side effects such as thrush, pain or a burning feeling when you pee, peeing more than normal, and mild skin rash or itchy skin. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to consult your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently.

Do not consume Gibtulio 10 mg Tablet if you are allergic to any component present in Gibtulio 10 mg Tablet . If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, consult your doctor before taking Gibtulio 10 mg Tablet . Avoid drinking alcohol while taking Gibtulio 10 mg Tablet since it may produce unpleasant side effects. There is limited information available about the use of Gibtulio 10 mg Tablet in children, therefore, it is not recommended to use in children. Inform your doctor about all of the medications you are taking as well as your medical history to rule out any undesirable side effects or interactions.

Managing Medication-Triggered UTIs: A Comprehensive Approach:
  • Inform your doctor about the medication you're taking and the UTI symptoms you're experiencing.
  • Your doctor may adjust your medication regimen or consider alternative medications or dosages that may reduce the risk of UTIs.
  • Drink plenty of water (at least 8-10 glasses a day) to help flush out bacteria. Avoid sugary drinks and caffeine, which can exacerbate UTI symptoms.
  • Urinate when you feel the need rather than holding it in. This can help prevent bacterial growth and reduce the risk of UTIs.
  • Consider cranberry supplements: Cranberry supplements may help prevent UTIs by preventing bacterial adhesion.
  • Monitor UTI symptoms and report any changes to your doctor.
  • If antibiotics are prescribed, take them as directed and complete the full course.
  • Reduce fluid intake 2-3 hours prior to bedtime.
  • Limit alcohol and caffeine as they can increase urination and affect bladder health.
  • Maintain sleep hygiene.
  • Eat a low-salt and healthy diet.
  • Drink six to eight glasses of water per day to be healthy.
  • Healthy urinary habits can help minimize pollakiuria (frequent urinating).
  • Avoid liquids containing caffeine, artificial sweeteners, and soda, as they might cause bladder discomfort.
  • Add bladder-friendly foods such as omega-3 fatty acids, blueberries, and cranberries.
  • Vaginal yeast infections need immediate medical attention.
  • Eat healthy foods like whole grains, lean protein and probiotics.
  • Keep your blood sugar levels in the medium range, which can help reduce the risk of yeast infections.
  • Wash your vulva well to prevent contamination, and after using the toilet, wipe from the front to prevent the spread of infection.
  • Avoid tight-fitting clothes as they may increase moisture and heat in the affected area. Ensure to use cotton underwear only.
  • Frequently change pads or tampons and always keep the effects dry.
  • Avoid sprays, perfumes and deodorants in the vaginal area, as they can change the normal balance of organisms in the vagina.
  • Drink six to eight glasses of water per day to be healthy.
  • Healthy urinary habits can help minimize pollakiuria (frequent urinating).
  • Avoid liquids containing caffeine, artificial sweeteners, and soda, as they might cause bladder discomfort.

In patients with decreasing renal function, the glucose-lowering benefits of sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors are reduced. In addition, those who have impaired renal function (eGFR less than 60 mL/min/1.73 m2), those who are old, and those on loop diuretics may be more susceptible to deleterious effects of volume depletion such hypotension and acute kidney damage. Prior to starting therapy, at-risk individuals should have their renal function assessed, and it should be followed up on often. Before starting treatment, determine the volume status and address volume depletion. It is not recommended to use SGLT-2 inhibitors in dialysis patients.
