About Hadensa Ointment
Hadensa Ointment belongs to the group of medicines called anorectal preparations used to treat haemorrhoids (piles), anal fissures, and anal fistula. Hadensa Ointment relieves itching, pain and reduces bleeding, swelling associated with piles and anal fissures. Haemorrhoids, also known as piles, are the inflamed and swollen veins in the rectum and anus that cause discomfort, pain, and bleeding. An anal fissure is a small tear in the mucosa that lines the anus, which causes pain and bleeding during or after a bowel movement.
Hadensa Ointment is a combination of four drugs, namely: Lanolin, Lignocaine, Menthol, and Thymol. Lignocaine blocks the pain signals from the nerves to the brain, thereby decreasing the sensation of pain. Menthol provides a cooling sensation, thus helping relieve pain. Lanolin moisturises the skin and prevents irritation. Thymol works by killing infection-causing micro-organisms. Thereby, Hadensa Ointment provides relief from pain and discomfort due to piles and anal fissures.
You are advised to use Hadensa Ointment for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you, depending on your medical condition. In some cases, Hadensa Ointment may cause common side-effects such as a burning sensation and redness at the site of application. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if the side effects persist or worsen.
Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. If your condition does not improve even after using Hadensa Ointment for 2-4 weeks, please consult your doctor. Limited information is available regarding the usage of Hadensa Ointment in children, so please consult a doctor if you have any concerns. Inform your doctor about your health condition and medications before starting Hadensa Ointment to rule out any side effects.

Hadensa Ointment kills infections causing micro-organisms, relieves itching and pain and reduces bleeding and swelling associated with piles, anal fissures, and anal fistula.
Avoid using Hadensa Ointment for longer durations unless prescribed by the doctor, as lignocaine in Hadensa Ointment may make your skin sensitive if used for longer durations. If your condition does not improve despite using Hadensa Ointment for 2-4 weeks, consult your doctor, he/she may prescribe you an alternate medicine.
The symptoms of anal fissure and piles are similar. However, anal fissure is a small tear in the mucosa that lines the anus, whereas piles are inflamed and swollen veins in the rectum and anus that cause discomfort, pain, and bleeding.
Hadensa Ointment may cause a burning sensation of the skin at the site of application as a temporary side effect. However, if the burning sensation persists or worsens, please consult a doctor.
Continue using Hadensa Ointment for as long as your doctor has prescribed it. Do not be reluctant to speak with your doctor if you experience any difficulty while using Hadensa Ointment.

Disease/Condition Glossary
Piles: Hemorrhoids, also known as piles, are the inflamed and swollen veins in the rectum and anus that cause discomfort, pain, and bleeding. Haemorrhoids can be external or internal. Internal haemorrhoids develop within the rectum and anus, whereas external haemorrhoids develop outside of the anus region. Piles cause pain, itching and bleeding. They also cause trouble in sitting. Symptoms include itching, irritation, and pain around the anus, swelling near the anus region, painful bowel movements, and blood in stools.
Anal fissure: Anal fissure is a small tear in the mucosa that lines the anus. This causes pain and bleeding during or after a bowel movement. Anal fissures generally heal on their own. If the condition lasts for more than 8 weeks, it can be considered chronic. Sometimes surgery may also be needed depending on the condition. Symptoms include tears of skin around the anus region, burning sensation, pain, and blood during a bowel movement.
Anal fistula: It is an infected tunnel that develops between the end of the bowel and the anus skin. Mostly, anal fistulas develop due to infections in the anus which spreads to the skin. Symptoms of an anal fistula include pain, discharge of pus or blood from the anus, and swelling.
