Idrofos 6Mg Inj belongs to the group of medications called 'bisphosphonates' used to prevent post-menopausal osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is a condition in which the bones become weak and brittle.

Idrofos 6Mg Inj contains 'Ibandronic acid', which suppresses the activity of osteoclasts and makes the bone stronger. It increases bone mass and helps reduce the chance of having a fracture.

In some cases, Idrofos 6Mg Inj may cause side effects like joint pain, back pain, headache, and abdominal pain. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, consult your doctor. 

Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding before receiving Idrofos 6Mg Inj. Idrofos 6Mg Inj is not recommended for children below 18 years as safety and effectiveness have not been established. Keep your doctor informed about your health condition and medications to rule out any interactions/side effects.

Do not take Idrofos 6Mg Inj if you are allergic to any of its components or if you have low levels of calcium in the blood. Inform your doctor if you have malabsorption syndrome, kidney or liver problems, or if you plan to have teeth removal or dental surgery. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Idrofos 6Mg Inj may cause low blood calcium levels, severe kidney problems, bone, joint, or muscle pain, osteonecrosis (severe jaw bone problems), and unusual thigh bone fractures.

• Eat a balanced diet rich in calcium and vitamin D.
• Avoid smoking and alcohol consumption.
• Do walking, weight-bearing and strength-training exercises.
• Include fresh fruits, vegetables and whole grains in your diet.
• Limit intake of caffeine.

Osteoporosis: It is a bone disease that weakens and thins the bones by decreasing bone density. As the density of bones decreases, they weaken and are more likely to break. Post-menopausal women are more likely to develop osteoporosis than men because, at menopause, women's ovaries stop producing oestrogen (a female hormone) that is essential to keep bones healthy. Following menopause, bone loss occurs, making bones weak and more likely to break. Signs and symptoms include back pain caused by a fractured or collapsed vertebra, loss of height over time, a stooped posture, and bones that break much more easily than expected.
