About IT-Mac 200 mg Tablet

IT-Mac 200 mg Tablet belongs to a class of drugs called antifungals used to treat fungal infections of the mouth, throat, toenails, fingernails or lungs. Fungal infection is a disease in which a fungus attacks the tissue and causes infection. Fungal infections may be contagious (spread from one person to another).

IT-Mac 200 mg Tablet contains Itraconazole, an antifungal that works by inhibiting the production of ergosterol (a main component of cell membranes of fungi). Thereby, weakens and damages the fungal cell membranes that are essential for their survival as they prevent the entry of unwanted substances into the cells and stop the leakage of cell contents. Thus, causes the main components of fungal cells to leak out and kill fungi and clear the fungal infection.

Take IT-Mac 200 mg Tablet as prescribed. Your doctor will advise you on how often you take IT-Mac 200 mg Tablet based on your medical condition. Some people may experience nausea, headache, diarrhoea, tiredness, cough, cold, throat pain, back pain and stomach pain. Most of these side effects of IT-Mac 200 mg Tablet do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

If you are known to be allergic to IT-Mac 200 mg Tablet or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. IT-Mac 200 mg Tablet is a pregnancy category C drug and may cause harm to the unborn baby. However, if you are pregnant, planning for pregnancy or a nursing mother, it is advised to consult a doctor before using IT-Mac 200 mg Tablet. Do not take IT-Mac 200 mg Tablet if you have or had heart failure as it may cause severe life-threatening adverse effects. If you have kidney, liver, heart or lung problems, inform your doctor before taking IT-Mac 200 mg Tablet. Avoid taking fentanyl (a strong opioid narcotic medicine) with IT-Mac 200 mg Tablet as it may cause severe breathing problems and can even lead to death. If you experience numbness or tingling in your hands or feet, stop taking IT-Mac 200 mg Tablet and consult your doctor immediately as they might be symptoms of nerve damage.

Directions for Use

Tablet: Take it with food to avoid stomach upset or as advised by the doctor. Swallow the whole tablet with a glass of water. Do not break, crush or chew it. If you are taking any stomach acid suppressor or have achlorhydria (stomach does not produce hydrochloric acid), take IT-Mac 200 mg Tablet with cola. Oral suspension: Shake the bottle well before use and take it on an empty stomach at least 1 or 2 hours before meals as prescribed by your doctor with a measuring cup or spoon provided.

If you have kidney, liver, heart, or lung problems, inform your doctor before taking IT-Mac 200 mg Tablet.

Diet & Lifestyle Advise

  • Regularly change your socks and wash your feet. Avoid shoes that make your feet sweaty and hot.
  • In wet places such as changing rooms and gym showers, don’t walk on barefoot to prevent fungal infections.
  • Do not scratch the affected area of skin as it can spread the infection to other body parts.
  • Avoid sharing towels, combs, bedsheets, shoes or socks with others.
  • Wash your bed sheets and towels regularly.

You are advised to take antacids (drugs used to reduce acid in the stomach) such as omeprazole, pantoprazole and esomeprazole at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after taking IT-Mac 200 mg Tablet as co-administration of these medicines at the same time may reduce the effectiveness of IT-Mac 200 mg Tablet because antacids decrease the absorption and blood levels of IT-Mac 200 mg Tablet. However, please consult a doctor before taking other medicines with IT-Mac 200 mg Tablet.

Yes, fungal infection is a contagious skin condition which spreads from one person to another through direct skin to skin contact or by contact with contaminated soil or surfaces and infected animals. Therefore, it is recommended to avoid close direct contact until the infection is clear and avoid sharing things with the infected person as it can also spread the infection.
