Kemac Eye Drops 5 ml belongs to ophthalmic eye medications primarily used to treat dryness of the eyes. Kemac Eye Drops 5 ml is also used to treat postoperative pain and inflammation in patients who have undergone corneal refractive surgery or cataract extraction and provide temporary relief from eye itching caused by seasonal allergies. Dry eye is a common condition that occurs when tears are unable to provide sufficient moisture. The symptoms include redness, pain, burning sensation, blurred vision, discomfort in the eye, watery eyes, difficulty reading or sitting in front of the computer for a long time or eyes get tired faster than usual.

Kemac Eye Drops 5 ml is a combination of two drugs: Hypromellose (eye lubricant) and Ketorolac (a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug). Hypromellose belongs to the lubricants class that works by forming a lubricating, transparent and moistening film on the cornea (surface of the eye) and is used as artificial tears. Thereby, it provides a soothing effect and relieves irritation and dryness caused by decreased tear flow. Ketorolac belongs to the class of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (pain relievers) that works by blocking the action of cyclo-oxygenase (COX) enzyme in the body involved in the production of certain chemical substances such as prostaglandins that cause pain and swelling. Thereby, helps in relieving pain and swelling after eye surgeries.

Use Kemac Eye Drops 5 ml as prescribed by your doctor. Kemac Eye Drops 5 ml is only for use in the eyes. You are advised to use Kemac Eye Drops 5 ml for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you based on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience redness, stinging or burning sensation in the eyes, blurred vision, mild eye pain, the stickiness of eyelashes, swollen or puffy eyelids. Most of these side effects of Kemac Eye Drops 5 ml do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

If you are allergic to Kemac Eye Drops 5 ml, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, please consult a doctor. Kemac Eye Drops 5 ml is not recommended for children below 2 years as the safety and effectiveness were not established. Drive only if your vision is clear as Kemac Eye Drops 5 ml may cause temporary blurred vision immediately after applying. You are recommended to maintain a time gap of 10 minutes between using Kemac Eye Drops 5 ml and other eye drops.

If you have diabetes, glaucoma, bleeding or blood-clotting disorder or arthritis, inform your doctor before taking Kemac Eye Drops 5 ml. Drive only if your vision is clear as Kemac Eye Drops 5 ml may cause temporary blurred vision immediately after applying. If you experience eye pain, changes in vision or continued irritation or redness of the eye, please consult a doctor. Avoid using Kemac Eye Drops 5 ml while you are wearing contact lenses. You are recommended to maintain a time gap of 10 minutes between using Kemac Eye Drops 5 ml and other eye drops. Do not Kemac Eye Drops 5 ml in more than prescribed doses or prolonged time as it may cause severe damage to eyesight.

• Use a humidifier in your room to increase moisture and avoid dry climates.
• Limit the time you spend in front of the television or computer.
• If dry eyes are caused by environmental factors, wear protective eyewear during outdoor activities when it’s windy and avoid exposure to cigarette smoke.
• Limit wearing contact lenses and use soft contact lenses if you have dry eyes as they are moist and allow the eye to breathe better than hard contact lenses.
• Take omega-3-fatty acid supplements as they may be helpful to treat dry eyes.
