Kodixam S 200mg/500mg Tablet belongs to the group of medications called antibiotics used to treat bacterial infections. Bacterial infections are caused by the multiplication of harmful bacteria inside or on the body. These harmful bacteria produce chemicals known as toxins, which can damage tissue and make you sick. Symptoms of bacterial infection vary depending on the organ affected by bacteria.

Kodixam S 200mg/500mg Tablet contains Cefixime and Sulbactam. Cefixime is a cephalosporin antibiotic. It works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering, which is required for bacterial survival. Sulbactam is a beta-lactamase inhibitor; the inclusion of sulbactam extends the cefixime spectrum of action to beta-lactamase-producing strains of bacteria.

You should take this medicine exactly as prescribed by the doctor. The common side-effects of Kodixam S 200mg/500mg Tablet are diarrhoea, stomach pain, nausea, and vomiting. It disrupts the production of the bacterial cell wall (a protective covering required for survival). As a result, the bacterial cell wall is damaged, and bacteria are killed. Sulbactam is a beta-lactamase inhibitor; the inclusion of Sulbactam extends the cefixime spectrum of action to beta-lactamase-producing strains of bacteria. Thus Kodixam S 200mg/500mg Tablet effectively treats a wide range of bacterial infections.

It is highly recommended not to use this medicine on your own unless prescribed by a doctor. Before using the Kodixam S 200mg/500mg Tablet, let your doctor know about all your medical conditions, sensitivities, and all medications used. Do not use any other drugs or supplements with Kodixam S 200mg/500mg Tablet unless prescribed by the doctor. Do not miss any dose, and complete the entire course of medication. Stopping the medication too soon may cause the infection to recur or worsen.

• Avoid taking too much calcium-enriched foods and drinks as it might affect the working of Kodixam S 200mg/500mg Tablet.
• Avoid intake of alcoholic beverages with Kodixam S 200mg/500mg Tablet as it can make you dehydrated and affect your sleep. This can make it harder for your body to aid the Kodixam S 200mg/500mg Tablet in fighting off infections.
