About Koforil LS Kid Raspberry Syrup
Koforil LS Kid Raspberry Syrup belongs to the class of medicines called 'expectorants' used in the treatment of asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and cough associated with mucus. Coughing (dry or productive) is the body's way of clearing irritants (like allergens, mucus, or smoke) from airways and preventing infection. There are two types of coughs, namely: dry cough and chesty cough. A dry cough is tickly and doesn't produce any vicious or thick mucus, while a chesty cough (wet cough) means mucous or sputum is produced to help clear your airways.
Koforil LS Kid Raspberry Syrup is a combination of three drugs, namely Levosalbutamol sulphate (bronchodilator), Ambroxol hydrochloride (mucolytic agent), and Guaiphenesin (expectorant). Levosalbutamol sulphate works by relaxing muscles and widening the airways of the lungs. Ambroxol hydrochloride is a mucolytic drug that thins and loosens phlegm (mucus) in the lungs, windpipe, and nose. It also thins and softens coughs and sputum, facilitating simple coughing out as a result. Guaiphenesin works by increasing the volume of fluid in the airways, reducing the stickiness of mucus, and helping to remove it from the airways.
Use Koforil LS Kid Raspberry Syrup as prescribed. Your doctor will suggest the dose and how often your child needs Koforil LS Kid Raspberry Syrup based on his/her medical condition. Sometimes, Koforil LS Kid Raspberry Syrup may cause side effects such as nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, headache, and diarrhoea. Most of these side effects of Koforil LS Kid Raspberry Syrup do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult a doctor.
Do not use Koforil LS Kid Raspberry Syrup if your child is allergic to any of the ingredients in Koforil LS Kid Raspberry Syrup. If your child is suffering from fits or has a history of fits, please inform your doctor before using this medicine as it may increase the risk of recurrent fits. If you have diabetes, fits, high blood pressure, overactive thyroid, stomach ulcers, phenylketonuria (a birth defect that causes accumulation of amino acid, phenylalanine in the body), kidney, liver or heart problems, inform your doctor before taking Koforil LS Kid Raspberry Syrup.

Disease/Condition Glossary
Asthma: It is a chronic (long-term) respiratory condition in which airways narrow, swell, and produce extra mucus, leading to difficulty in breathing. The symptoms of asthma include wheezing (whistling sound while breathing), shortness of breath, chest tightness and cough, especially at night.
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD): It is a group of lung diseases with emphysema (shortness of breath) and chronic bronchitis (inflammation of the lining of bronchial tubes). The major cause of COPD is smoking tobacco. Also, long-term exposure to fumes and chemicals may also lead to COPD. The symptoms include chronic cough, shortness of breath or wheezing (whistle sound while breathing).
Cough: Coughing is the body's way of clearing irritants (like allergens, mucus, or smoke) from airways and preventing infection. Coughs may be dry or productive. A productive cough (wet cough) brings up sputum (phlegm, mucus, and other matter) from the lungs. A dry cough does not produce phlegm.
