Lotenate 0.5% Ophthalmic Suspension 5 ml contains Loteprednol etabonate. It is a corticosteroid that works by blocking prostaglandins (a chemical messenger) in the brain that cause inflammation and swelling. Thereby, Lotenate 0.5% Ophthalmic Suspension 5 ml helps treat inflammation and pain.
Lotenate 0.5% Ophthalmic Suspension 5 ml is for ophthalmic use only. You are advised to use Lotenate 0.5% Ophthalmic Suspension 5 ml for as long as your doctor has prescribed it. In some cases, Lotenate 0.5% Ophthalmic Suspension 5 ml may cause watery eyes, irritation, itching, and foreign body sensation in the eye. Most of these side effects of Lotenate 0.5% Ophthalmic Suspension 5 ml are temporary, do not require medical attention, and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects are persistent, reach out to your doctor.
Do not take Lotenate 0.5% Ophthalmic Suspension 5 ml if you are allergic to corticosteroids or any ingredient of Lotenate 0.5% Ophthalmic Suspension 5 ml. Also, do not use more than the prescribed dose of Lotenate 0.5% Ophthalmic Suspension 5 ml as it may cause glaucoma, fungal infections, and cataracts. Do not take any other eye medication with Lotenate 0.5% Ophthalmic Suspension 5 ml, without consulting your doctor. If you have/had glaucoma (increased eye pressure), herpes simplex infection, any other eye problem, are pregnant or breastfeeding, do not take Lotenate 0.5% Ophthalmic Suspension 5 ml unless prescribed by your doctor.
