About MODCEF D TABLET
MODCEF D TABLET belongs to a class of drugs called antibiotics used to treat several bacterial infections of the urinary tract, ears, nose, throat, chest, and lungs. A bacterial infection is a condition in which harmful bacteria grow in the body and cause infection. It can infect any part of the body and multiply very quickly. MODCEF D TABLET does not work against infections caused by the virus.
MODCEF D TABLET is a combination of two antibiotics, namely: Cefixime and Dicloxacillin. MODCEF D TABLET works by interfering with the formation of the bacterial cell wall (a protective covering) that is necessary for their survival. Thereby damages the bacterial cell wall and kills bacteria.
Take MODCEF D TABLET as prescribed by your doctor. You are advised to take MODCEF D TABLET for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you based on your medical condition. You may experience vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, stomach pain, indigestion, or vaginal itching in some cases. Most of these side effects of MODCEF D TABLET do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.
If you are allergic to MODCEF D TABLET, penicillins, or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, please inform your doctor before taking MODCEF D TABLET. Dicloxacillin may reduce the effectiveness of birth control pills. Co-administration of Modcef D Tablet with Cholera vaccine may reduce the effectiveness of the vaccine.
How to manage the interaction:
Talk to your doctor before receiving the cholera vaccine if you are currently being treated with Modcef D Tablet or have been treated within the last 14 days. To ensure adequate vaccine response, you should not receive cholera vaccine until at least 14 days after you complete your antibiotic therapy. Do not discontinue the medication without consulting a doctor.
Co-administration of methotrexate with Modcef D Tablet can increase the levels and effects of methotrexate. This can increase the risk or severity of serious infections.
How to manage the interaction:
Although there is a possible interaction between methotrexate and Modcef D Tablet, you can take these medicines together if prescribed by your doctor. However, if you experience any symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, mouth ulcers, paleness, fatigue, dizziness, fainting, unusual bleeding or bruising, fever, chills, sore throat, body aches. Consult a doctor immediately. Do not stop using medications without a doctor's advice.
