About Nelcium 100 mg Injection

Nelcium 100 mg Injection is a mineral salt. It is used to treat the body's calcium deficiency (hypocalcemia), thereby reducing the risk of calcium disorders due to low calcium levels in the body. It is indicated for immediate treatment of hypocalcemic tetany (abnormally low calcium levels in the body that cause muscle spasms). Nelcium 100 mg Injection is also used as part of the resuscitation procedure (CPR) following a cardiac arrest, arrhythmias, calcium channel blocker overdose, and beta-blocker overdose.

Nelcium 100 mg Injection contains Calcium Chloride, which is administered to increase Calcium's blood levels in the body, thereby reducing the risk of calcium disorders due to lack of Calcium in the body.

Nelcium 100 mg Injection is administered by a healthcare professional. Do not self-administer this medicine on your own. The course of the treatment should be completed as per the doctor's advice. CALCIUM CHLORIDE-100MGChronic kidney disease
Severe
How does the disease interact with Nelcium 100 Injection 10 ml:
Renal impairment Calcium elimination through the kidney is decreased in renal impairment patients. Hyperphosphatemia may occur during renal failure. Nelcium 100 Injection 10 ml can correct metabolic acidosis to some extent which is associated with chronic kidney disease. Closely monitoring for renal function, serum calcium, and phosphate concentrations is recommended.

How to manage the interaction:
Absorption of oral calcium formulations may be altered, and the elimination of Nelcium 100 Injection 10 ml by the kidney may be decreased in patients with renal impairment. Clinical monitoring of renal function and serum calcium and phosphate concentrations is advised.
CALCIUM CHLORIDE-100MGSarcoidosis
Severe
How does the disease interact with Nelcium 100 Injection 10 ml:
Sarcoidosis In patients with sarcoidosis, sometimes hypercalciuria, with or without hypercalcemia, may occur. Elevated calcium levels may be caused by increased intestinal calcium absorption, which is linked to extrarenal vitamin D synthesis by mononuclear phagocytes present within the sarcoid granuloma. Use Nelcium 100 Injection 10 ml only if necessary in case of sarcoidosis with caution

How to manage the interaction:
Hypercalciuria (excessive urinary calcium excretion), with or without hypercalcemia (high calcium levels), may occasionally occur in patients with sarcoidosis. Therapy with Nelcium 100 Injection 10 ml should be administered cautiously and only if necessary in patients with sarcoidosis.
CALCIUM CHLORIDE-100MGSarcoidosis
Severe
How does the disease interact with Nelcium 100 Injection 10 ml:
Cardiac contraction/conduction Calcium ions are involved in cardiac muscle contraction and electrical impulse conduction. Use Nelcium 100 Injection 10 ml with caution in cardiac disease patients.

How to manage the interaction:
Therapy with Nelcium 100 Injection 10 ml (particularly IV) should be administered cautiously to patients with cardiac disease. It should be administered slowly and at reduced dosages in patients with cardiac disease.
CALCIUM CHLORIDE-100MGOther disorders of fluid, electrolyte and acid-base balance
Severe
How does the disease interact with Nelcium 100 Injection 10 ml:
Calcium- phosphate calcifications Elevated levels of serum calcium and phosphate can exceed the solubility level which may result in calcium-phosphate precipitates that deposit in vascular, renal systems and other soft tissues of the body. These deposits are eliminated through feces. Close clinical monitoring of serum calcium and phosphate is recommended.

How to manage the interaction:
Therapy with Nelcium 100 Injection 10 ml should be administered with extreme caution in patients with hyperphosphatemia (high phosphate in blood). Clinical monitoring of serum calcium and phosphate concentrations is recommended.
CALCIUM CHLORIDE-100MGOther disorders of fluid, electrolyte and acid-base balance
Severe
How does the disease interact with Nelcium 100 Injection 10 ml:
Acidosis Use Nelcium 100 Injection 10 ml with caution in patients with pre-existing acidosis, renal disease, cor pulmonale, severe respiratory obstruction, or respiratory failure. Closely monitoring for acid-base balance and calcium concentrations is recommended.

How to manage the interaction:
Nelcium 100 Injection 10 ml should not be administered as therapy for low calcium in patients with acidosis associated with renal failure. Therapy with Nelcium 100 Injection 10 ml should be administered cautiously in patients with or predisposed to acidosis. During Nelcium 100 Injection 10 ml therapy, clinical monitoring of acid/base balance and calcium concentrations is recommended.

FAQs

Nelcium 100 mg Injection contains Calcium Chloride, which is administered to increase blood calcium levels in the body, reducing the risk of calcium disorders due to low calcium levels in the body, such as muscle spasms.

Your doctor or nurse will administer the injection slowly through a vein (intravenous). Do not self-administer this medicine.

Calcium Chloride is a mineral salt administered to increase blood calcium levels in the body and get the heart working where potassium levels are too high.

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is an emergency procedure that combines chest compressions with artificial ventilation to manually preserve intact brain function until further measures are taken to restore spontaneous blood circulation and breathing in a person in cardiac arrest.

Tetany can be the result of an electrolyte imbalance. Low levels of calcium can cause hypocalcemia Tetany.
