Nitroderm TTS 5 Transdermal Patch belongs to the class of anti-anginal medication primarily used to prevent angina pectoris due to coronary artery disease. It can be used as monotherapy or in combination with other anti-anginal agents. Angina occurs when the heart does not get a sufficient amount of blood.

Nitroderm TTS 5 Transdermal Patch contains glyceryl trinitrate, a natural vasodilator that works by relaxing the blood vessels (veins and arteries). This boosts the blood supply to the heart, allowing more oxygen to reach the heart muscles and reducing chest pain. Thus, it prevents angina.

Use Nitroderm TTS 5 Transdermal Patch exactly as prescribed by the healthcare professional. Sometimes, Nitroderm TTS 5 Transdermal Patch may cause nausea, vomiting, headache, and application site reactions such as redness, itching or burning sensation. Most of these side effects are temporary, do not require medical attention, and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects are persistent, reach out to your doctor.

Inform your doctor if you are allergic or hypersensitive to any component present in Nitroderm TTS 5 Transdermal Patch, if you are pregnant, suspect you are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or if you are breastfeeding. Notify your doctor if you are wearing a patch (Nitroderm TTS 5 Transdermal Patch) before an MRI scan, diathermy treatment (treatment using hot wires) and before electrical therapy on the heart. Avoiding alcohol is recommended to rule out possible side effects like fainting or dizziness.
