About Nitrogesic Ointment
Nitrogesic Ointment is used to treat moderate to severe pain associated with anal fissures. Besides this, it may assist in relieving pain and discomfort associated with haemorrhoids (piles) and haemorrhoidectomy (an operation to remove severe piles). An anal fissure is an incision in the anus or anal canal lining. The sign of an anal fissure is pain during or after a bowel movement.
Nitrogesic Ointment contains nitroglycerin; it works by relaxing blood vessels, thereby reducing pressure in the anal tissues. Thus, Nitrogesic Ointment treats pain and discomfort associated with anal fissures and piles.
Use Nitrogesic Ointment as prescribed by your doctor. Sometimes, Nitrogesic Ointment may cause nausea, headache, and dizziness. Most of these side effects are temporary, do not require medical attention, and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects are persistent, reach out to your doctor.
Inform your doctor before using Nitrogesic Ointment if you are pregnant, suspect you are pregnant, are planning pregnancy, or are breastfeeding. Do not use Nitrogesic Ointment if you have low blood pressure, heart or blood vessel disorders, closed-angle glaucoma, migraine, recurrent headaches, brain injury, cerebral haemorrhage or anaemia. Nitrogesic Ointment is not intended for children under the age of 18 since it has not been evaluated in this age group.

Anal fissure: Anal fissure is a small tear in the mucosa that lines the anus, which causes pain and bleeding during or after a bowel movement. Anal fissures generally heal independently, and if the condition lasts for more than eight weeks, it can be considered chronic. Sometimes surgery may also be needed depending upon the condition.
