Nitrogesic Ointment 30 gm

Nitrogesic Ointment is used to treat moderate to severe pain associated with anal fissures. Besides this, it may assist in relieving pain and discomfort associated with haemorrhoids (piles) and haemorrhoidectomy (an operation to remove severe piles). An anal fissure is an incision in the anus or anal canal lining. The sign of an anal fissure is pain during or after a bowel movement.

Nitrogesic Ointment contains nitroglycerin; it works by relaxing blood vessels, thereby reducing pressure in the anal tissues. Thus, Nitrogesic Ointment treats pain and discomfort associated with anal fissures and piles.

Use Nitrogesic Ointment as prescribed by your doctor. Sometimes, Nitrogesic Ointment may cause nausea, headache, and dizziness. Most of these side effects are temporary, do not require medical attention, and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects are persistent, reach out to your doctor.

Inform your doctor before using Nitrogesic Ointment if you are pregnant, suspect you are pregnant, are planning pregnancy, or are breastfeeding. Do not use Nitrogesic Ointment if you have low blood pressure, heart or blood vessel disorders, closed-angle glaucoma, migraine, recurrent headaches, brain injury, cerebral haemorrhage or anaemia. Nitrogesic Ointment is not intended for children under the age of 18 since it has not been evaluated in this age group.

Do not use Nitrogesic Ointment if you are allergic to any of its components, if you are taking erectile dysfunction medicines, have severe anaemia, or increased intracranial pressure/high pressure in the skull. Inform your doctor if you have low blood pressure, have had a heart attack, heart/blood vessel disorder, migraine or have severe headaches. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Nitrogesic Ointment may cause light-headedness; therefore, get up slowly from a lying or sitting position.

• Follow a diet that consists of plenty of fibre-rich food (beans, chickpeas, coconuts, whole grains, broccoli), probiotic-rich foods (curd and buttermilk), fresh fruits and vegetables (lemon, oranges and seasonal vegetables, bananas).
• Exercise boosts blood flow throughout the body, which may help to reduce anal fissures. The activity also encourages regular bowel motions, which may be beneficial. Exercises that may strain the anal region should be avoided.
• Increase your fluid intake. Stay well hydrated.
• A warm bath helps in easing pain and itching.
• Always keep your bottom dry and clean.
• Avoid or limit alcohol and caffeinated products to prevent constipation.
• Avoid spicy foods, fast food, dairy products, red meat, fried foods, salty foods, pre-packed foods, and frozen foods.

Anal fissure: Anal fissure is a small tear in the mucosa that lines the anus, which causes pain and bleeding during or after a bowel movement. Anal fissures generally heal independently, and if the condition lasts for more than eight weeks, it can be considered chronic. Sometimes surgery may also be needed depending upon the condition. Symptoms include tears of skin around the anus region, burning sensation, pain, and blood during a bowel movement.
