About Novadine Pessaries

Novadine Pessaries is a combination medicine used to treat vaginal infections. Vaginal infection is the infection of the vagina and vulva (tissue at the opening of the vagina), which occurs due to the overgrowth of bacteria and fungi. Vaginal infection can cause inflammation, itchiness, thick discharge, change in colour of the discharge, burning sensation or pain during urination, vaginal bleeding or spotting, and pain during intercourse.

Novadine Pessaries contains Clotrimazole (anti-fungal), Lactobacillus (probiotic), Povidone-iodine (antiseptic), and Tinidazole (antibiotic). Clotrimazole works by preventing the formation of fungal protective covering, thereby stops the growth of fungi. Tinidazole kills bacteria by damaging their DNA. Povidone-iodine kills the micro-organisms by releasing iodine. Lactobacillus helps maintain the health of the vagina by producing anti-infectious substances. Together, Novadine Pessaries helps in treating vaginal infections.

You are advised to use Novadine Pessaries for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you, depending on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience certain common side-effects, such as burning sensation, irritation, itching, and redness at the site of application. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently.

Let your doctor know if you are taking antifungal or antibiotic medicines. Consult your doctor before using Novadine Pessaries if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Keep your doctor informed about your health condition and medicines before taking Novadine Pessaries to rule out any side effects. Limited information is available regarding the usage of Novadine Pessaries in children. Please consult a doctor if you have any concerns.
