About Obrin Ophthalmic Gel

Obrin Ophthalmic Gel belongs to the class of aminoglycoside antibiotics. It is used for the treatment of bacterial eye infections. Bacterial eye infection occurs when harmful bacteria invade any eye part, such as the eyeball, conjunctiva, or cornea.

Obrin Ophthalmic Gel contains tobramycin, an antibiotic that works by killing the infection-causing bacteria. Thus Obrin Ophthalmic Gel treats bacterial eye infections.

Use Obrin Ophthalmic Gel as prescribed by your doctor. The common side-effects of Obrin Ophthalmic Gel are eye irritation, feeling of having something in the eye, swollen/itchy eyelids, eye redness, increased tearing and inflammation of the cornea (clear front portion of your eye). Most of these side effects fade away gradually over time without the need for medical intervention. However, consult your doctor if you experience these side effects frequently.

Obrin Ophthalmic Gel is for ophthalmic (eye) use only; do not inject or swallow. Do not use Obrin Ophthalmic Gel if you are allergic to tobramycin, other aminoglycoside antibiotics, or any components in Obrin Ophthalmic Gel. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, notify your doctor. Obrin Ophthalmic Gel may temporarily blur your vision; therefore, wait until your vision is back to normal before using any machinery or driving.

Disease/Condition Glossary

Bacterial eye infections: Bacterial eye infection occurs when harmful bacteria invade any part of the eye, such as the eyeball, conjunctiva, or cornea. The common bacterial eye infections are conjunctivitis, stye, or keratitis. Conjunctivitis (pink eye) is the inflammation or infection of the conjunctiva (white part of the eye) and the inner eyelid. It is a highly contagious infection that is spread by eye secretions. Symptoms include redness, itchiness, and discharge or crusting around the eye. A stye is a bump on the eyelid, which is also a common eye condition. Keratitis is the inflammation of the cornea that occurs due to frequent use of contact lenses, injury, diabetes, or surgery.
