Oflomac 50 Oral Solution is an antibiotic medicine used to treat bacterial infections in children. It is used in treating infectious diarrhoea and infections of the skin, throat, ear, and lungs caused by bacteria. A bacterial infection occurs when harmful bacteria enter and grow in the body. This bacteria can infect any part of the body and multiply very quickly. Oflomac 50 Oral Solution is effective in treating infections caused by bacteria only and does not treat viral infections like flu or a common cold.

Oflomac 50 Oral Solution contains Ofloxacin belonging to the fluoroquinolone class of drugs. It works by inhibiting the repair of the bacterial cell wall (a protective covering) and causing damage to the bacterial cell wall. This eventually leads to the death of the bacterial cell and thus prevents the growth of bacterial infections. 

Oflomac 50 Oral Solution may cause certain side effects such as indigestion, diarrhoea, nausea, and stomach pain. These side effects do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or bother your child, please consult your paediatrician. Oflomac 50 Oral Solution should be given as advised by your paediatrician. Do not give more than the prescribed dose to the child. Generally, the dose of the medicine will be decided by your paediatrician depending upon the type and severity of the infection.

Oflomac 50 Oral Solution is intended for pediatric use only. Avoid giving Oflomac 50 Oral Solution to your child if she/he is allergic to antibiotics. • Include more fiber-enriched food in your child’s diet, as it can be easily digested by your gut bacteria, which helps stimulate their growth.
• Fiber foods may help restore healthy gut bacteria after a course of antibiotics.
• Avoid giving too much calcium, or iron-enriched foods, as it might affect the working of Oflomac 50 Oral Solution . 
• Make your child drink more fluids to avoid dehydration.
• Do not make your child drink or eat a lot of caffeine-containing products such as cola, or chocolate.
