About Olmesar Plus 40 Tablet

Olmesar Plus 40 Tablet belongs to the class of anti-hypertensive medication, primarily used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure). Hypertension is a lifelong or chronic condition in which the force of blood against the artery walls is very high leading to high blood pressure.

Olmesar Plus 40 Tablet contains two antihypertensive drugs, namely: azelnidipine and olmesartan medoxomil. Azelnidipine inhibits the activity of calcium channels in the heart's arteries. As a result, the blood arteries widen and the blood supply to the heart increases, decreasing the increased blood pressure and the heart's strain. Olmesartan medoxomil acts by inhibiting the effect of angiotensin receptors that causes blood vessels to constrict. It improves blood flow and increases the heart's efficiency in pumping blood throughout the body. As a result, the risk of a future heart attack or stroke is reduced.

Olmesar Plus 40 Tablet should be taken according to the doctor's instructions. The dose will be based on your condition and response to the treatment. Dizziness, headache, and nausea are the common side effects of Olmesar Plus 40 Tablet . Most of these side effects do not require medical treatment and resolve with time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, consult your doctor.

Continue using Olmesar Plus 40 Tablet for as long as your doctor has prescribed it to effectively treat your illness. If you're pregnant or breastfeeding, talk to your doctor before using Olmesar Plus 40 Tablet . Alcohol consumption should be avoided when taking Olmesar Plus 40 Tablet , as it may raise the chance of serious side effects. Before taking Olmesar Plus 40 Tablet , tell your doctor about your medical history and all of the medications you're taking to rule out any potential side effects.

Disease/Condition Glossary

Hypertension: It is a medical condition in which blood pressure is elevated persistently in the arteries. It is considered an essential risk factor for cardiovascular diseases and can be caused due to obesity, diabetes, smoking, high salt intake, stress, lack of physical activity or ageing. Blood pressure is measured in the ratio of systolic pressure to diastolic pressure. Systolic pressure is the pressure when the heart pumps blood out. On the other hand, diastolic pressure is the pressure when your heart is at the resting stage between heartbeats. The ideal blood pressure range lies in between 90/60 mmHg and 120/80 mmHg. If the blood pressure is 140/90 mmHg or greater, it is considered high blood pressure.
