About Ometic 2mg/5ml Syrup

Ometic 2mg/5ml Syrup belongs to a group of medications called ' anti-emetics' primarily used in the prevention of vomiting (being sick) and nausea (feeling sick) that usually occur after cancer chemotherapy, radiation treatment or surgery. Nausea is an uneasy feeling in which a person feels an urge to vomit while vomiting is the natural response to the body to forcefully discharge the stomach contents.

Ometic 2mg/5ml Syrup contains 'Ondanestron' that works by blocking the action of a chemical in the body (serotonin) responsible for causing nausea and vomiting. As a result, Ometic 2mg/5ml Syrup prevents the sensation of nausea and vomiting caused due to conditions like surgery, cancer chemotherapy, pregnancy or motion sickness.

Take Ometic 2mg/5ml Syrup as prescribed. Directions for Use

Tablet: It can be taken with or without a meal as advised by the doctor. Swallow the tablet as a whole with a glass of water. Do not break, crush or chew it. Oral disintegrating tablet/Mouth dissolving tablet (tablet MD): Check the label for directions before use. Do not handle the tablet with wet hands. Place the tablet in the mouth and allow it to dissolve. Do not swallow it as a whole.Syrup/Suspension: Shake the bottle well before use and take it as prescribed by your doctor with a measuring cup or spoon.

The liver patient should not take more than 8 mg of Ometic 2mg/5ml Syrup daily. Ometic 2mg/5ml Syrup should be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding after consultation with a doctor. Taking Ometic 2mg/5ml Syrup with apomorphine can cause a sharp dip in blood pressure, even leading to death, so avoid its intake together.
