About Ornistop Suspension

Ornistop Suspension belongs to a class of antibacterial medications called 'nitroimidazoles' primarily used to treat infections caused by protozoans & bacteria. It is used to treat amoebiasis, chlamydiosis, giardia infection, trichomonas infection, vaginal, urinary tract, intestinal and post-operative infections. Ornistop Suspension does not work against infections caused by the virus, including cold and flu.

Ornistop Suspension contains 'Ornidazole' that works by damaging the DNA of the infection-causing agent and inhibiting their growth. Thereby treats infections.

In some cases, Ornistop Suspension may cause common side-effects such as nausea, vomiting, headache, dizziness, and taste disturbances. Most of these side-effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side-effects persistently.

Do not take Ornistop Suspension on your own as self-medication may lead to antibiotic-resistance in which antibiotics fail to act against specific bacterial infections. Consult your doctor before taking Ornistop Suspension if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Ornistop Suspension may cause dizziness and sleepiness, so be cautious while driving. Avoid alcohol consumption while on treatment with Ornistop Suspension and for three days after the treatment.

Disease/Condition Glossary

Bacterial/Protozoal infection: It is a condition in which harmful bacteria/protozoa enter, multiply and infect the body. They can target any part of the body and multiply very quickly. These infections vary from minor illnesses like sore throat and ear infections to severe brain infections like meningitis and encephalitis. Anyone can get a bacterial/protozoal infection, but people with a weak immune system or taking immunosuppressive medicines like steroids are more prone to infections.
