Otoid Ear 10Ml Drops belongs to the group of medicines called otic agents used to soften the hard, solidified, obstructive, impacted external earwax (accumulated earwax) to facilitate easy removal and relieve ear discomforts such as pain and infection. Earwax, also called cerumen helps to protect the inside of the ear canal from micro-organisms and foreign particles. When the ear glands produce more earwax than necessary it gets hard and blocks the ear. Unremoved ear wax can lead to infections.

Otoid Ear 10Ml Drops is a combination of four medicines: Paradichlorobenzene (hydrating agent), Lignocaine (local anaesthetic), Chlorbutol (preservative) and Turpentine oil (lubricating agent). Paradichlorobenzene softens the ear wax by reducing its thickness. Lignocaine decreases the sensation of pain by blocking the pain signals. Chlorbutol acts as a preservative and wax softener. Turpentine oil acts as a lubricating agent. Together, Otoid Ear 10Ml Drops helps in softening the ear wax.

Otoid Ear 10Ml Drops is for otic (ear) use only. You are advised to use Otoid Ear 10Ml Drops for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you, depending on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience certain common side-effects such as irritation and headache. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if the side effects persist or worsen.

Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Otoid Ear 10Ml Drops should be used in children only if prescribed by the doctor. Inform your doctor regarding other prescription, non-prescription and herbal medicines you are taking to prevent any side effects/interactions. Do not touch the tip of the dropper, as it may contaminate the contents. Do not put cotton into the ear after administration of ear drops. Do not use Otoid Ear 10Ml Drops if you are allergic to any of its contents, if you have an inflamed ear canal, perforated eardrum or eczema (skin inflammation) on the outer ear. Inform your doctor if you have any hearing problems, intestinal problems,  such as blockage, swelling or ulcers, kidney problems, Parkinson's disease or myasthenia gravis (muscle problems). Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

• Avoid consuming foods that you are allergic to as it can cause the body to produce excess mucus leading to inflammation of the ear.
• Avoid getting things like shampoo, soap, and water into the ear as it can cause itching.
• Do not poke or scratch the ear, as it can cause damage to the ear canal, leading to inflammation. The inflamed skin can be infected by bacteria or fungi, which can cause infections in the ear.
• Avoid heavy use of headphones as it may increase the build-up of earwax.
• Do not use cotton swabs, bobby pins or other objects to remove earwax as it may push wax much deeper into the ear leading to ear damage.
• Never put cold water into your ear and avoid spraying liquids with force into the ear.
• Consult an ENT regularly for early detection of any ear problems.
